Coming to Patong beach area with a buddy from work on Nov 10th in search of off-the-hook fun and festivites.... first time from US so this should be quite the trip. . should be very very good. I have been lurking the forums here. Lotsa great info.. thank you all. Have been wanting to come to Patong for years from stories heard from friend..
Went to drugstore here in US bought pretty much one of every variety of condom that Trojan makes... really blew the girls mind when I checked out but what the f_ck?
picked up some of those anti-dehydration salts... too.. could have used those at Burning Man this year in Nevada!!!
Anyway, need to know where the best places to score are around town. Looking for some good relaxing spots around as well ... This is a vacation, after all.

is there a pharmacy to find Viagra or substitututes in Patong? Found mention in BKK but nothing here.
Thinking about moving a bit down the road from patong. Word of "inexperienced" bg's tnere. also planning a trip to Phuket Town. Probably a day trip for "entertainment"
probably some diving as well. The kind you do in the water with tanks and stuff ...
am considering renting a car later in the week to go exploring... is this an incredibly bad idea or what? I have read the bkk horror stories about driving.. they seem to indicate you are better off paying someone to kill you as opposed to doing it yourself.
Any word on this?
lets get the discussion going.. would not mind meeting up with anyone from this forum while in town... you guys really helped us out and we definitely appreciate it. This is the best forum around.

If this is not the correct place to post this or the correct format, I apologize in advance. I am a bit pissed on 2 bottles of "2 buck Chuck" which here in the states is $2.00/bottle Merlot or Cabernet its really not bad. would love to bring a barge load to Phuket.

OK I will give you some slack ,being pissed and all,as you Yanks would say.
head up Soi bangla,the main drag, you will see some very tall ladies ,take a left ,you are in the middle of a great soi  .
It should be rite up your Alley.
Being serious forget hiring / car / moto CHEAPER AND SAFER ,which means if you get drunk your not driving.
Oh If your in Bangkok check out Casonava bar Nana plaza,I think it would be great for a couple of first timers.

Not to sound stupid, the Boots Chemist stores... Is that the name of the place? Or is it located in Ocean plaza?
Also -
Whats it like around Kata/Karon beach areas? Havent heard anything bad. Seems like all the activity is concentrated around Patong. Are these outlying areas totally dead?

Boots is the name of a series of Pharmacies around the world.
you can get most of the essentials in them including the salts you want.
i know there is one on Beach Road and easy to spot.
walk down Bangla towards the beach and when you get to the end it is to your right on the other side of the road,cannot miss it.
i'm sure there is one very near to Ocean Plaza,but not 100% positive.
Ocean Plaza is at the opposite end of Bangla(away from the beach)and again you cannot fail to miss it.
2-3 floors of clothing/souvenir shops and food outlets.
bowling alley on the top floor,this is a good place to take the girls for a bit of fun during the day.
not sure of the situation now about the pills in OP but when i was last there they had a HUGE display advertising the stuff right by the doors.
makes sense to think they will have them on sale now after all the promotions they had.
you're a week too late really,one of our Brothers has just left Phuket and if he had known he might have been able to look around.
he will be back home before you go i think and i will get in touch with him and ask if he had seen any around and either get back to you or let him send in a post.
i'm awaiting his FR's with interest.
also you will be there at roughly the same time as another Brother,so why not hook up and look for the pills together?.
where are you staying?

Don't forget to hit up Christins massage parlor in Patong - a nice soapy to start you trip off will be nice...
Agree with S05 - forget about renting a car, don't really need to
BTW - Kata kind of sucks, stick to Patong (Bangla) for partying. ĘKaron is a nice place to get away from it all - I recommend the Arcadia Resort hotel if you want to stay the night - 5 star resort for 72++ a night - if you budget allows. ĘThe beach in Karon is only a good place during the non-monsoon season.
IMOH, stay in Patong at a cheaper hotel and live it up...

I totally agree with Dagul, Karon is a very relaxing and scenic area but not much in the way of action packed adventures. I stayed in the Arcadia resort with my girlfriend at the time and it was fantastic, but i wouldn't go there for more than a day or two if you're after more fun and excitement rather than relaxation and romance.

Oh and just another note, my favourite place outside of patong is Kamala beach. Its relaxing, and a great place to drink into the night with a mate. I love Bob's bar, just a simple open air, tiny bar with constant raggae and the owner is a really top guy! Kamala's only about 15 minutes tuk tuk away from patong from memory.

I was definitely going to check out Christin's it has been higly reccomended both here and elsewhere.
Had a health related question. People speak of not drinking the water nor having drinks with ice in it or peeled fruit of any kind.
How much of a problem is this? I mean, if I am having a LD it is a lot nicer with ice. If ice is a concern then I will just stick to beer/wine.
When I was in Mexico it seemed the larger places had water filters in place on their ice machine and were quite proud of it.
Also, are there any concerns surrounding food from street vendors or restaurants? My friend was in New York and was admonished with "no meat from the street!" by his co-workers.
oh, we are staying at least the first couple nights in the Tropica Bungalow & Hotel...
They said no joiner but there was a language problem and they didnt seem too concerned with anything past just taking our names down and date of arrival. Is it always that casual or are we gonna get screwed somehow?
I am sure there are places around not on the net. Is it hard to switch accomodations during this time of year? My only reference is the US where it is hell to find a room on short notice and not get taken if you are in any kind of urban area.
