I just returned from two nights at the SalaThai and I think it's great. Terrific location, no joiner fees, and a very nice pool (very clean). I got a junior suite for 2, 400 and if I return, I'll stay there again.

The last time I stayed in Patong it was at Club Bamboo. A nice place, but too far from the action and full of perverts. At least this will be a bit closer...

Stayed there last year and it would be my first choice on return. Actually one of the most pleasant places I've stayed in LOS.
Modern Thai style, very tasteful design and furnishings, small complex, and guest friendly. Checked in double with TGF and no problemos.
Breakfast choice from menu rather than buffet due to small size, but good selection. In the very center of Patong and just a hop across the road to the beach.
A couple of convenient and inexpensive net machines in the lobby to write your running FRs on.

Guest Friendly rules are changing in Patong as of Nov 1st. Check with them. Now, the rooms are smallish and the baths don't have enclosed shower area. No night swims. Alot of guys like it but have a look at
http://www.tharapatong.com. If you want info on the guest policy PM me and I can give you some good advice and a contact persson at the hotel whom will hear you request for a waiver of the guest fee. Bettter room for a little more money! Great location as there are many nooner ST's at the bars on Soi SeaPearl...

Myself and a few friends stayed at the Thara Patong hotel in April and we had £200 worth of clothes and goods stolen by their staff. The management there didnt lift a finger to do anything about it...and this is supposed to be a respectable, classy hotel. Not from what we experienced of it.

Seems a bit out of sync with the place. Are you sure it was a staffer who was the gaffer. sh*te, I've never had a problem after like about 15 tours there. Twas this April? Did you file a police report? They have a long term staff as it is an old fashioned Thai run hotel. Sorry to heasr about that but in all fairness to the establishment I really think that is a very isolated deal. Who did you make your report to?

Yes..I know it sounds strange but he was certainly the gaffer, We stayed in the old wing and filed a report to the men in brown although we were told by the manager their that it would be of little use (he was right). The manager suspected the cleaner of the room and would try to get the truth told but he suddenly disappeared and never got back to us. We were going to stay another couple of weeks as well but after the hotels carefree attitude to what had happened we decided to move hotel. Your probably right that it is more a rarity than a common thing to happen at the Thara Patong but other things happened there that put us off which I havent mentioned. These included a toilet that overflowed when flushed and spewed out sewerage all over our hotel room (this took 3 days before we were moved rooms and the hotel was only half full). They also tried to charge us a few thousand baht for use of the minibar (even though we never touched it). Guest friendly they were but friendly to its own customers we werent so sure when we left.
