Loknar returns from LOS -- Fr report from Patong. Returned to US on Nov 27
This is my first FR so if it is not in proper form or dwells on the stupid, I apologize in advance.
After receiving wonderful advice from the crew on here. Torq and myself reserve a room at Tropica Bungalow. Numerous language problems calling from the states but they dont really seem interested in taking a credit card number just the names and the dates.... I am suspicious but f*ck it. Torq has travelled much more than me... I have only been to Mexico and trying to reserve a hotel in the US is f*cked..
We depart SFO on China Airlines for Taipei 13hr flight. We are a little concerned because a certain Mongolian off/on GF of mine (an MGF?) said China Air sucked and mainly consisted of Chinese people smoking and passing gas the entire trip. After this trip was over we realized that she was speaking of Air China or whatever the China State airline is. My concerns disappeared when we got on a newer 747 and had the hottest women I have ever seen give us hand towels, food that would be served in First Class on US sh*t airline and free everything the entire trip. I can only imagine that if you booked first class with these guys you were probably having sex the whole way.
I got the feeling this trip was going to be special before the plane ever left sfo.
6 hour flight to Phuket. Grab luggage (too much luggage... more on that later) get some local currency. 550B to Patong....Then it hits us... they drive on the left here... once we leave the airport it seems the guy is trying to kill us. Of course after a few days we realize this is completely normal.... They dont take driving emotionally like in the states... people have been shot for stuff that happens here on a regular basis. The car (I wont call it a taxi cuz it didnt have a meter) stops at some place where the guy has to "check in" I am so wound up and tired I am ready to steal his f*cking car and drive the rest of the way myself. A woman comes out and asks us if we have accomodations. We tell her yes and once she leaves, I start getting into it with Torq, he assures me that this is part of their little racket and we will be on our way shortly after politely declining. Driver takes us directly to the hotel. We are f*cking wiped out but getting a second wind now that we are here!!!
Tropica is probably one of the most prime locations for a Hotel. Walk about 100ft down the street and you are at Bangla rd and Beach rd.. the center of it all....grab some dinner and my friend has some of the spiciest food I have ever tasted Mr Goods seafood near C&N Hotel. Food is cheap cheap cheap... 120B for a plate of the freshest best Thai food you have ever had. This is looking good already.
About the hotel.... nice clean bungalow with AC and hot water and Tele. Price was 1800B per night or something... I think it worked out to 33.00 us. No service charge for credit cards and NO JOINER. Apparently the guy started losing money because of it... you could do as well as 600b per night according to our French Dive instructor who lives there.
I lost track of the days very quickly in spite of buying a journal but I guess it doesnt matter... it all adds up to the time of my life in the end anyway!!!!
I am sweating my ass off I am not used to humidity being from California Thais are all smiley and giggling at me and pointing because all I do is sweat.... I am the recipient of several hundred of those cooling towels they give out over the course of the trip.
My first BF ensues the next night after we are partially over the shock of how hard it is to cross the f*cking street... Thais have immunity to getting run over and after a few forays across the street with the ladies. So do we!! I dont remember this girls name but I did get pics of every single one... she doesnt speak much english at all and kind of walks around the room mumbling in Thai. Not sure what she is saying but a good time was had. I cut her loose the next day 1000B The hotel wants their ID cards which at first kind of freaks you out because the security guard looks like a cop. by the end of the trip the guy is showing me pictures of his family and his house and we are on first name basis.
It was fun seeing the places for real that have been mentioned here by everyone. Didnt hit any of the Go-gos... looking back, probably should have tried at least one. It's all good, I even know the name of the "guard" dog.
Go take diving class and go diving the next day (Sea World across from Yorkshire Inn is top notch!!!) We meet a dive instructor who has lived there for a while and clues us in on local goings on. Speak Easy bar on Soi SanSobai is nice quiet place with pool table where you wont be hassled.
There is so much to do here during the day... it is paradise... truly. Tuk Tuk is pain in the ass.. they assume because you are walking you need a f*cking taxi...But the Indian tailors take the cake.... If I had my way, they would be buried on the beach somewhere. I guess it is their culture but I dont have to like it or them.
I hook up with "A" or EH or however you spell it at Full Monty Bar. She has the body of a dancer and a beautiful smile to match. I BF her 200 and she wants to go to Star Bar in Soi Andaman Queen (katoey city at least out front) This is the place to listen to Techno. Go to the back where it is less crowded and enjoy the tunes. This one has a raised platform with a ladder in the middle of it and the sh*t was going off on my last day with Katoeys and European white chicks pulling their tops off up there in the rain. I am not into Katoeys but the BG seem to find them quite entertaining for some reason. She mentiones that the same guy that owns Star Bar owns Full Monty Bar so she is helping his bottom line. We go over there with another BG and her "boyfriend" some dorkus who actually proposed to marry her and wants to open a bar there or some such sh*t. I should have sold him some swampland in Florida while I was at it. She is dressed typical BG... tight jeans and a skimpy top but not too whored out so I am happy. She starts going off on the pole with her friend. I get lotsa pictures and am on the pole with her... long story. She has motorbike and insists on giving me a ride to hotel... luckily I am still alive to talk about it here.
Being a first timer I notice that the Towel situation is in full effect and by the end of the trip I am just used to the fact that BG's like certain things.
1. money
2. taking 3 showers a day
3. sleeping all day long
4. MTV
5. Having you hang out with them more than once.
Nice thing is she takes shower first. You take shower and you open bathroom door to hottie already in your bed ready to go. I would definitely reccomend a trip here to any man who feels un-appreciated or just wants to get laid a whole bunch.... f*ck, you walk down Bangla... weeeelcoome weeeelcooome... turn down the sois and they get really aggresive physically pulling you into the bar... this can get annoying at times the technique is to walk fast and look straight ahead.
The location of the hotel compound in the back is right behind the bars... so much so that at times it is like you never left the bar... This does not bother me because my room is far away from the rooms that are near the back wall of the bars.
Bought some Vitamin V (Boots dont got it) go to other pharmacy about 1 every 5 feet here and they have it 500B per pill.. ouch.. but they will cut for you. So, A gets the V ticket ride that night as do I. Take her to the beach the next day... hang out. I cut her loose to find oter possibilities.
Took the James Bond island 1/2 day tour with Sim's tours.... I would reccomend this to anybody looking for something to do half day... sh*t, take a BG with you... I didnt but it would have been more fun.
My buddy is out most days getting dive certified... so I am usually at the room sleeping in with the BG du jour.... the hotel staff is all smiles and starting to talk sh*t. "ah yes, room 30 we remember you" of course they bid you a good night when you come rolling in at 3AM with the evenings entertainment.
My buddy hooks up with a TukTuk driver who is willing to take us anywhere for a good price cuz the guy is starving... we go to Phuket town to check out the 200B short-times on Soi 11 or whatever it is (found on another websigte)... he counsels us against it saying the fishermen go there.... probably should have done it. Instead we end up at the main go-go in Phuket Town.... they seem like USA type places and are expensive 2500B for girl and expensive drinks.. no cover charge but arent really lighting my fire. Interesting part was when guy in suit pours lighter fluid on the bar and lights the bar on fire... nice touch.
We decide to head back to Patong in the midst of nasty lightening storm. We passed through Kata and Karon several times on our travels and I did see BG in bars on road it was definitely not the same scene and we never stopped.. I have no doubt you could hook up here but the logistics of the girl getting back home might be a drag. In Patong they just walk home or catch 20B moto taxi (1 time)
We jump out of TukTuk on Bangla right in front of Full Monty Bar and yep, you guessed it. I hear a sound like a cat being harassed. It is A calling me from the bar. We make hasty exit down the street.
At one point I decide to go check out Soi Sea Pearl which is off Beach Road NOT Bangla and go to the bar in the back. different vibe here. I am playing Jinga or whatever they call it for a few hours with this chick (Yao 30 y.o) hoping the bar will close and I can just take her with no BF.... no such luck... bar closes alright then her older friend starts hanging out and finally asks me "you want her or not" she collects BF of 200 and probably pockets it. Many of the other BG seem to have rooms behind Soi SeaPearl. they are coming and going at an amazing rate.
Take her back to room for good time. She is a great kisser. Cut her loose next day because the English just aint there and I dont know Thai. Of course she wants me to come back the next day.
Another night. It starts raining.... I go into only covered Soi on the street (why I do not know. big f*cking mistake) I get dragged into a bar and some BG that doesnt know any english is trying to pick up on me. Her friend (Tu) comes over and in better english explains that her friend knows no english. It is late, I am rummy and hardly notice that she is the "short-fat model" We agree on 1000b no BF and go back to room for unremarkable time that should have been skipped entirely. She just wasnt into it at all... I walk around with her the next day and do some shopping (she did get me a good deal on some shorts).. it becomes evening and I cant get rid of her... I guess I should have been more forceful. Telling them you have to meet someone alone is suffcient to get rid of them.
went to hit Christins massage on second night... nice clean place. Not what I expected. People here made it sound really dodgy but it was very nice. You go upstairs. A woman seats you and gets you a drink and there is the plate glass windows with the girls with numbers sitting in 3 groups. the mamasan or whoever comes over and she has a card with the prices she will show you. I think it was left middle right type thing and it coest 1800. You pick the girl. Some of them are waving at you wanting to be picked by this time!! Tell the mafia looking guy in the suit who you want. He gets on the phone. You pay at the window and she takes you to the room. Very nice room. Marble, television, clean bed. huge tub with a multitude of soaps/oils and bath crap. She starts brewing up the concoction in the tub while making out with you on the couch and getting very naked.... then she basically pours hot soapy water on you while you lay on an air mattress and rubs her naked body all over you.... into the tub for some more fun then you can bang them on the bed afterwards. There didnt seem to be any rush but after I was done, I just wanted to leave. She sweated me for a 300B tip... She was definitley older, had stretch marks and was from Chiang Mai. Also, looked at me funny when I insisted on Condom which I brought with me. whatever.
MP's If I had 5 baht for every time I was asked if I wanted a massage. I would be a rich man..... I did go to have a few and they were very non-sexual, very relaxing experiences 200B for 1 hour and 300B for 2 hour. Be careful though. I went to one place with a BG and didnt get clear on the second hour part and it cost me 400B each for 2 hour... no discount... f*ckers. place next door was a better deal. Be sure and ask. Oh and you can get Thai Massage on the beach and a manicure and pedicure so you can be handsome man that night!!!
The Spa at C&N got great reviews from folks there but didnt get a chance to try it out.
My pal has hooked up with a friend and we are going to go meet some of her friends for me. This proves in the end to be a bad idea. We go to a bar on Soi Eric and I meet Boom 22 y.o with hot skinny little body but the face is not good. serious orthidonture needed here.... I decide to take her anyway. We go to Taipan and hang out then back to room.... she doesnt like to kiss (besides it is like making out with a garden rake) and I knew I was f*cked or not f*cked when I came out of the shower and she was under the covers with all of her clothes on and didnt take a shower nor get undressed. I was so fried. I crashed with the tv on and forgot to take my contacts out.... She was acting like such a bitch. I just sent her packing and didnt pay her sh*t since nothing happened anyway. She was so cold. She told her friend she liked me etc. etc. I am not sure what happened here.
Money notes.... dont bring travellers checks!!! The atm works fine... the money changers f*ck you on travellers checks... 60B commision per check and some bullsh*t about "stamps" use atm or cash.
Went to Andaman Queen where they put on Thai dance music late. I am into it so I get DJ to make me copy of CD for 250B (probably too much) Since I cannot read what the label says. I show it to some BG in other bars... they look at it... giggle then hand it to their dj to play a certain track. They all start dancing.... so I guess there is one song on the CD that is any good. Worth 250 for the entertainment value alone.
Next night. I am on the prowl again and run into "lucky or Luck" this time.. 22y.o tall hottie.. knows really good english.... tooo good... she has attitude... talks all kinds of sh*t at bar and back at room.. Good lay but doesnt like kissing. She essentially offers to leave after the act so I let her go.
at about 4AM... I am horny again. so I head out to Bangla RD. Bars are closed but the streets are full of freelancers and beer/cigarrette/food vendors. Some of the bars have not pulled the doors down. Just dimmed the lights and turned off the tunes or turned them way down... elapsed time 20 minutes... I find 3 girls sitting there and they say hello. They seem to think I want 3 girls... I tell them I want one and take the cutest one... at least she was cutest in the dark.... 22y.o probably not Thai maybe Cambodian... very nice.. once I get her in the light I realize she has this nasty ass scar under her eye almost like someone burnt her with a soldering iron or something.... kinda wigged me out... great body though..she is one of those rare women that naturally has no hair. I saw one of these in a magazine once.. a few little strands and thats it... she was definitely not underage either. Next day when I am in the shower I hear her rummaging around in the room. I figure she is looking to rip me off but anything worth stealing is out already. I come out. She has picked up all my clothes and folded everything... nice touch. I cut her loose then phone her later. she comes by and we go to dinner... then she gets something up her ass and leaves dinner.. oh well. My friend says I got dumped by a BG... oh well.
I am getting chewed up pretty good by mosquitos at the hotel but not nearly as bad as at the seafood place across the street!!!! Bought some eucalyptus anti-mosquito spray and used to much and started to wonder if I poisoned myself somehow.
food comment.... no problems with food/ice/street vendor food / fruit.... everything was all good... best food around... Only time I got the ring of fire was when I was eating this spicy ass sh*t with sticky rice at the Star Bar with the staff... they were quite entertained that I wanted to try what they were having. I had the ring of fire most of the next day. They were saying "You Thai!!"
Next night... I meet Lee 33y.o bottle blonde back tattoo, arm tattoo the whole bit. Friend of my friends friend.. very whorist... tons of make-up... against my better judgement again. I take her and we go to club with my friend and his TGF... back to room... smells bad... nuff said... she gets cut from the team the next AM.
Next day.. did the whole Phi Phi island thing which is touristy as hell but a lot of fun... hell the drive to the dock was an experience by itself. try sitting in the front seat of the minibus for better view.
It has now been 10 days... my friend left today.Hotel screwed him out of 1 night free for booking 10... it amounts to less than 50 dollars so why get into an argument with these people?
I am a bit bummed and it must be showing.. I eat dinner and am walking down the "Schill gauntlet" at we call Bangla now wearing my "11" suit... shorts, t-shirt sandals. I stop in at U2 bar and am sporting a long face. One of the BG from behind the bar comes over and says "your friend over here" I am thinking, what the f*ck is she talking about? did he miss the flight? She sits me down at the end of the bar where they are doing all the accounting... She draws a smiley face on my thumb and the word smile under it. We start writing notes to each other on the back of the accounting slips because it is too loud in the bar to talk or be heard. I stay until 3AM and pay 300B BF (more because she works behind bar)
Her name is Rack 23y.o claims she doesnt usually go with customers but that is patent bullsh*t becuase the next night she starts getting hassled by some dude and her friend leans over the bar and say s"boyfriend" to me. Now this guy was asking for a serious ass-kicking but I am not a fighter and eventually he moved on. At any rate. This night, we go get some food. Let your BG order for you... you will be fed well. BTW, the seafood joint behind the Thai boxing behind Soi Tiger is open till 3:00am or so for good grub.
She gives me some insight into how BG's make money.... Salary is in the 4-5000 B range... lady drinks get them a 20B commision plus tips which they all split... if you ring the bell, I think everyone makes money. Their typical rent is 4000-5000 monthly for room which is usuually shared with 3 or 4 others although I did run into one BG who lived at a Hotel alone.
I take her back to the room at 4:00am and we have incredible sex and she is a sweetheart. We agree to go out the next night... she tells me "you dress like handsome man." She picks out long pants and button down shirt... this is easy since I am told by several BG that I brought enough luggage for 2 people like a moron. She shows up at the hotel wearing a long dress. she is a knockout... we stop at a bar on the way to dinner. Her friends approve. I could swear I hear someone saying I am lucky to be with her. We get some good food and head over to Tiger disco for some thumping beats then back to U2 where dude starts hassling her. Later in Soi Andaman Queen She writes me a note that she really likes me but doesnt think I like her because she works in a bar... I write that I am on holiday and just having a good time..
btw, BG's dont like it when the guy puts the monkey on your back for a picture. Monkey is kryptonite for BG's so is having another BG with you... dont want to be hassled? Grab a BG on your arm.
Of course while all this is going on I am thinking about how cool my Mongolian hottie back in the states is stacking up against all these women... I fire off an email during the day to get her locked and loaded before she skates off with someone else. I get the heroes welcome when I get back home. Has anyone here been to Mongolia?
So, by this time, I have rented motorbike and it is truly frightening to ride but better than TUK TUK.... brand-new bike was 200B per day... I rode to the Promthep lighthouse.. nice trip.
Now I have nasty ass heat rash under my arm... at least I hope thats what that is. go to chemist with Thai phrasebook and get hooked up with cream to help out the situation.
I cut Rack loose earlier today so now I am out looking again... This time in Soi Tiger at Diana Bar. They are dragging you in... I meet "Abu" tall lady. She says she is Pom Pui (Fat) well maybe by Thai standards but not US standards... she is sweet and I am looking for someone with some meat on their bones anyway. It is her Birthday and someone shows up at the bar with a bottle of whisky or something... things were going downhill fast.. I BF her and We both end up at Tiger blitzed out of our minds. diana bar tried to charge me for the drinks she offered me and she told them to stick it because I didnt have to pay. We go down to Andaman Queeen then back over to Tiger disco... get back to room at 4:30am we are both too drunk to do anything but sleep. We sleep in until 2:30pm the next day/. I take her to eat (they all eat like birds if at all so no risk of wallet damage here) She takes me back to her room that she shares with her cousin who works at the bar and her aunt and uncle. A unique opportunity to see how Thai people live.... in a word... simply.... only electric appliance in the place was a rice cooker but it was clean. One corner of the room was dominated with Shrine to Buddha with incense etc.... It is now evening we go to Seafood #4 on Bangla.. there is a sign for it and it is on what they call Soi Bangla off of Bangla Rd at the very end past all the crap shops.
We go to Diana bar again... so I can pay BF and drop some Baht presumably then tuk tuk out to Safari disco... really neat outdoor disco but 100B beers are starting to piss me off. This place doesnt really get going until 2:00am when the other discos close. Supposedly they stay open until 6AM.
Rack told me she had something to give me and that I should come by the bar on my last day. I figured I would go by there and BF her for my last night... I cut Abu loose and go over to U2 at about 7:00pm and start knocking back beers until 8:00pm when she is supposed to show up. I notice the "boyfriend" that was hassling her when we were out on the town that night is sitting there too apparently waiting for someone. Also, she has my t-shirt that she had to have when she left in the morning with her dress. I dont know what for... the dress wasnt that wrinkled and wearing my sh*tty white t-shirt over it is like walking down the street in pajamas... whatever. I gave her one I could afford to lose.
I hang there until 9 and make another bad move... this young looking hottie behind the bar who is smiling and kicking my ass on that connect 4 game. I figure I will BF her... I get shot down and she tells me her sister works there and she doesnt go with people... fair enough... I leave and go 2 doors down to Full Monty bar figuring Rack probably got BF the night before and was doing LT with someone else. soooo, who do I run into at Full Monty? well "A" of course... she is glad to see me... I have a beer. BF her and off we go. Grab some food at the food stalls.... Great food... looks dodgy but good.
Across Bangla RD from Soi Eric and left away from the beach... tiny alley with watch shop and something else... all restaurants all the way back. In fact, the one at the very end, if you make it that far, has a sign advertising a prix Fix meal of a bunch of seafood for 270B... good food and decent prices here.
Anyway, we go back to Star Bar to spend more money and hang out... I am determined to not get too drunk so I can actually do something but it has been hit/miss the whole time anyway. Sometimes I finish sometimes not and sometimes cant take the wood to the mill in the AM either.... I think I wore my libido out on this trip. She Buys me a flower leigh which smells really good.. for good luck... I have never had one. Of course the vendor sees her give it to me so I buy one for her. We have a good night and she helps me pack my bags. We go to the beach for a little while. Have a final Singha beer and then back to the hotel for the taxi. She waves goodbye on the way out. I have her cell number... if I am ever back there. I will have to look her up. She was a sweetheart.
Oh and somewhere along the way. I went back to Mr Goods seafood... I order something Thai spicey. It is so hard to get them to give a farang something hot. But when they do LOOK OUT... The guy flips the menu picturebook and says.."you want spicey??! then get this with pork"
I should have known I was in trouble when there were whole sprigs of peppercorns on the plate with the food. It was so f*cking hot that my vision started to blur... I was sweating more than usual and of course, cue the hot waitress who is over there giggling and smiling.... I try to pull her but she says something in Thai that either means f*ck off or no.
In summary... this was a phenomenal life-changing experience for me. I am so glad I went and so glad I read these forums.... you guys really helped us out and you are right. It would be very hard to not have a good time there. As far as prices for the girls... I never paid >1000 had a couple for 500 and always offered to buy them food the next morning.
When I got back... spent time with Mongolian GF and cooked up some Thai Food.
Everybody was so nice and happy and non-stressed. Got back on the 27th of Nov and still cant wipe the sh*t-eating grin off my face. There was one thing that happened that is cause for at least a little concern. One of the chicks I was with, after I finished, when I pulled out. I didnt hold onto the condom and lost it... she retrieved it but I am wondering if I was exposed to HIV...
I am thinking next Trip to Chiang Mai / Chiang Rai.... some danish tourists told us it was really nice up there and very cheap.... Everything I have read about Bangkok doesnt sound good at all with hassles and police corruption etc. Maybe Pattaya better?

many points similar to my experiences.
always take a Girl on the James Bond Island tour, much more fun and I found Sim's was the best.
i love the food, but the very hot stuff would burn my mouth and arse.....
i know the Bars you talk of, but I think I only ever went in U2 and that was for one drink.
going to the Cape is a good trip and I liked it down there.
many of the Thais live in the area to the left of Bangla as you walk up from the beach.
the area is accessable from the end of Seadragon, off of Beach Road after walking through an area with a few Bars and off of Rt-U-Thit Rd down a small Soi and a very poor area.
but interesting to see how the locals live.
but what I like about the place is that it is so small and nothing is really more than a few minutes away.
but it can be a pain as you tend to bump into the same Girls night after night and sometimes that can be a bad thing.
like you I had no problems with the food from the vendors and loved the stuff.
were the stalls outside VIP, opposite Sand Inn on Sansabai still there?
the one nearest the main road was my favourite and I highly recommend.
now that the 7-11 is gone I wonder if they had to move?

Sorry about that. I guess I should have broken it up a bit eh? I had to refer to the journal to get all the points correct and go over my 4 rolls of pictures
I think I could have done more by not hanging with a non-hottie for more than 1 night. of course I butterfly man.... oh well... gotta make the most of it. I did hang with a few more than one night. Does that count?
I have 3 weeks of sabbatical from work and will spend in Thailand in spite of people saying "but you have already been there, why dont you go somewhere else?" I do not understand this line of thinking. When you have been to the best place why spend money/time trying to find second best?
I have to use the time before May 7th... suggestions? I want to explore other places and will be travelling alone.
Bangkok from the FR's sounds like it sucks. No offense intended but not my bag from the sounds of it.

BKK is actually lots of fun, but it is a big city and you need to do some homework (and exploration) to get the most from it. A good way would be to hook up with some BTF bro's and let them show you around for a night. Have to admit, I love the late night beach haunts, they are idyllic in their own way, and I always look forward to those kinds of "field trips" with my TGF.
I was touched by your encounter with the TG who drew the happy face on your finger. They seem to have ESP when it comes to reading a guy's emotional state, almost scary. And they seem to know how to do the right thing to make you smile again.

It was really a FLR (Fu*king Long Report) but really a good one.
You are right about why going to second best placewhen you can have a great time in LOS visiting again and again.
When it comes to EXPLORE LOS. I think its a unique place on the face of earth where you can EXPLORE and EXPLODE simulteneously.
Just a week to go for me and I will be there once again !!!
