Three years ago I had some great times there !
Also the disco on the other side of the road opposite
Hard Rock. Is that still going ???????????????

shark is still closed and i think will be for a while yet.
owner deported and as far as i know,nothing new sorted yet.
which disco opposite Rockhard[not Hardrock],shark is opposite.

The owner was deported back to my home town so I do not think you will see him for a long time, there was a BIG article in one of the local newspapers here in BC Canada about the sharks club and the owner, I will try find it and post a link to it, CV

owner was canadian i think and deported in feb,march this year.
much info in the phuket gazette at the time.
there were rumours of the place opening again under the ownership of the police.
but as yet,nothing has happened.

Shark is down the road a bit from there.
The place I am talking about is virtually
opposite on the other side of the main road-
well the one that is almost impossible to cross
due traffic. Only gets going in the early hours.

Tai Pan is OK, since opening times have been brought back to 02.00 things changed dramatically.
Preferred the Tai Pai in its original setting, covering only the previous Firehouse agogo. Had many great night there... Still, after 24.00 a good place to look for TG's who are waiting to be picked up.
Shark seems to be history, even rumours of opening brought the police to the spot, only to find out that nothing happened.. Until the closing it was a real enrichment of the scene.
Rockhard is a classic, not to be missed when visiting Patong. Still think about Ben....

Shark Club closed down at the end of Janurary this year or so, apparently due to irregularities with the licence and the accuse of having violated the prostitution law. The owner had to leave the country. At around the same time I heard that a few diving shops were closed as well, for holding an expired licence.
Why other places like as for example Christie's where it was obvious that the prositution law is violated remained open, was never answered. All that was said is that the governor claimed that he has the power to immediately close down any place he wants. I hope you get the point...
As for the place a bit from there opposite on the other side of the mainroad. If it is the same place like I mean it is still alive and kicking, but I do not remember the name.

still a good place to go to meet the freelancers.
i remember reading the phuket gazette at the time shark club was closed and saw the pictures they printed.
it was closed because of the disgusting practises held there.
they showed a picture of a girl holding an ice-cream cone between her knees and a falang licking it.
the authorities decided it was a lewd act and detrimental to the image of thailand and the police moved in and closed the place down.
this sort of 'lewd act' is the type i was doing as a young child at school,playful games.
but the paper also published many reports of other bar owners complaining that they lost custom because us clients left and went to shark.
they were jealous i think.
i have never ever been to shark myself,too old to be dragged on a dancefloor and gyrating around.

things changing slowly....in bkk allready topless gogogirls on stage
in phuket one place is allready open till 04.00....it¥s called superstar and is located in a small soi next to vip....been there last night....drank there till 04.00.....police past serveral times without stopping and complaining...
i think because they sell food as well......but nobody was eating.....
newest rumor is....from beginning of highseasion (01.11.02) places with special licens can open till 04.00
we will see............
today was a warnig from belgium secret sevice that phuket can be the next target.....by al kaida....
