I am going to phuket in December and a lot of the hotels are expensive at this time of year. Can anyone recommend any hotels for about 1000 bht a night.

Try Holiday Resort (yes that's the name), tucked away in a quiet bylane at the other end of Patong. Any local would know it and you can probably book on arrival at the airport hotel booth. It's far from the chaos and yet offers quick access to the nightlife. Ask for the bungalows in the pool wing which is across the road from their front desk. Rates are roughly in the area you're looking for and the value for money is undeniable. Rooms are clean, it's guest-friendly and they retain her ID card for your security. Have a good one.

Before you make a booking, I would recommend you to check the Phuket section of http://www.latestays.com. Sometimes they are having better rates than the ones that the hotel in question publishes or discounted one that a hotel might give you when you are there to ask. Just double-check. I usually stay at the Expat Hotel while in Patong and choose to live budget, this is below Baht 1'000. But of course there are much cheeper places around with possibly better value.

I thoroughly recommend Orchid Residence on Soi San Sabaai. Rooms are quite new, big king size bed and great value for money. Low season bargain at 580 B, high season more expensive.
Close to the Bangla Rd action and guest friendly as well.

i'm staying in Phuket beginning of Feb for 7-10 nights, however, i'm looking to book a hotel close to the action - up to 2000 baht per night, & so far the Orchid Residence on Soi San Sabaaifor sounds the best, are there any others (gf) worth considering within this proximity?

when I am in Phuket I always stay at PS hotel, 2 blocks from the beach. also guest friendly. I think last time I was there paid 1,000bht per night w/ your choice of breakfast. the hotel will pick you up at the airport, but you need to let them know when you are arriving.

I stay at Thara Patong..Very nice and a wide range of rooms incl tax a breakfast! Guests.....No Problem. They just have to leave I.D. card, which is good! http://www.tharapatong.com will get you there. Plenty of day action at across the street as Soi Sea Pearl, 7-11 and photo shop near by.......half block from the beach. Go for a little more room and get a pool terrace room. Has private pool entrance attaced to you room and late nigh swim ok for pool terrace room guests. Good way to start the Boom Boom. No Bikini for the girl, no Problem small tank top and panites make a nice swinsuit!

I first stayed at the Merlin, then Baan Sukhothai (I am told not TG friendly), This trip at a small guest house called Fiddy's just near the 7 11 at the corner of soi bangla...1000 bht per night/700 for smaller room
