Dear members - I thought since I'm always asking questions I should probaly add something to this forum.  One extremely delightful memory I have in Thailand is having one the best Italian meals in my life in Phuket.

The place is called the 'San Marino ' located at the Phuket Arcadia Resort Hotel   ( situated near Karon Beach).  It is well worth a visit (15 minutes from Patong).  Expect to pay around 400 Baht.  In addition, beautiful hostesses will add to the atmosphere (but the food is good enough)...

Cheers

Thank you for the advice chetlue but the best food in Phuket surely must be Thai food and I have to agree with 3cazzi.
I am not criticising chetlue for offering his information but I am continually amused why there is such a strong demand by non-Thais for non-Thai food in this country. I believe it is all due to fear.

(1) Fear of the unknown. Non-Thais are afraid that what they are eating may actually be insects or dog or sheep's eyes or donkey's testicles, etc.

(2) Fear of the food being "too spicy". Non-Thais are terrified of the slightest 'hotness' with their food, thinking that it will somehow damage them permanently.

(3) Fear of being sick. Non-Thais have the blinkered opinion that all Thai food is not fresh when cooked and by eating it they will become violently sick, prohibiting them from having sex.

Please enjoy the above with a dash of salt.

The Da Maurizio in Patong is great food... Plus the location is superb and for a romantic sunset its hard to be beaten..

Personally I am more likely to take a Thai date to Baan Rim Pa as it being 'Royal Thai' they get a kick out of the food but for Italian Da Maurizio is where I would head...

Still not tried the Otowa (they are all linked in the same plot)..

I did.... not very impressed at all. Rather expensive for what they offer in my opinion.
