I am a little late with this post.
A couple of years ago, my first night ever in Patong was, in recollection, quite insane.
This was my first time in Thailand and Asia. I was in heavy culture shock. The first of 2 days in Bangkok was spent getting rid of my jetlag. The second was a little more adventurous as I ended up with a girl for the night from some bar at Nana.
So I am still totally lost as I head to Phuket. Checked into the Thara Patong around 4pm., took a shower (I seemed to be doing a lot of that as well as changing shirts) and headed out to Bangla. Friday night and there were lots of people hanging around. Went into the first bar I was close to, Kangaroo. Had a couple of drinks and chatted to some Swedish guys who gave me the low down and insisted I help them finish their bottle of voBKa off. Did just that then went to find some female fun. I was getting drunk at this point but still well in control.
Wandered into the sois off Bangla and had a few beers in different bars. No one I really took to. I was looking for at least an 8. The girl from the previous night at Nana was not an 8 but was a great lay. Just as I come out of one of the sois (I think it was Eric) I see the girl I was looking for. But then I lost her. Damn, I am now getting a little more drunk but still mostly in control.
I head down another soi (I can never remember which is which), have some more beer. As I exit the soi, there she is. Or should I say was. I lost her again. Stopped in to Kangaroo again, it was familiar and a good place to catch my breath. I grabbed a stool facing the street and as I turned there she was standing 3 feet away and smiling at me. We had a few drinks of Mehkong, which she introduced me to. Nasty stuff. I was beginning to get rather drunk and had almost no control of my doings. I rarely get that hammered and when I do, I am a happy drunk.
The night became a blur after about 2am. I remember some different glasses from other bars, paying for many drinks, having some hot food that almost killed me and one girl turning into two. I remember going to this bar out of town where there were no Farangs and being a lot apprehensive that I was going to get killed. It was more a house party than a bar and I was probably the only one paying. There were some drugs that I passed on...not in some foreign country. I also remember this animal (some kind of monkey) in the corner gibbering at me.
Got back to the hotel as they are setting up for breakfast. No problem with the 2 girls, who I think are as drunk as I am. We all shower and just pass out. I am way too drunk. I have a vague memory upon waking in the afternoon that I woke up earlier and shagged one of the girls. I smile as I see a used condom on the bedside table but I never found out which girl it was. We order room service and make plenty boom boom. 3 times for me including one swallow and then I needed to go back to bed. They take off after I slip some $$$ in their bags and get their cell #'s.
After a nap, I thought about the past night and how foolish I was. I should not have gotten that drunk, especially when I did not know what the hell I was doing. Still shaking my head I head over to Kangaroo and have a beer while telling the Swedish guys about my night. With much laughing they point and tell me they have a new bottle of voBKa and laugh even harder. At least they were not drinking Mehkong.
I want to thank the Forum for all of its great help. From info about hotels, airport taxis and cool bars to field reports, restaurants and how much to pay the girls.

Hi, I'm staying at the Thara Patong next week. It was ok for girls? How about joiner fee? Was in Patong last January and know what you mean about the nightlife! Sweet memories of Soi Eric! Soon....!

i was in Patong a couple of Years ago and used to drink with 3 Swedes in Kangaroo Bar.
it was during the time of the 2002 World Cup.

It was in mid April 2002 and I believe there was a lot more football on than usual. I get into the game more and more every year. There were at least 2 Swedes and they were rather large and usually sat at the small end of the bar. It could be the same ones. I have seen them in the bar every April since.

I've been to Thailand twice. Phuket last year and this summer Bangkok. Kinda liked the easy girl-logistics of Patong. Great quality of girls as well.
And in Soi Eric: "What is your name," the girl asked. "Erik," I told her. "Like Soi E...". "Yes".

my time with the Swedes was June 2002 and they were in Patong for around 2 Months.

There were 3 girls behind the bar sometimes but there were 4, 5, and 6 at times. My Swedes mentioned that a lot of them come to Patong and that bar so it was probably not them but their friends or cousins...a photo is not needed, it would just depress me. I need to get back soon.
