Any bro`s that are in Patong at the moment could you give us any news on the shut down of the bars.
Was it wide spread ? Did all the bars comply and are they still closed.
They,the bars were going to shut from the 26 Oct in protest to the early shut down, 1.00. am.
So were they all closed last night ?

Funny about the closing of all the bars, I said this long ago, all the bars and all the clubs should close for one week. I know the cost to them will be a lot, but they need to make a point. But no good just closing, they need to co-ordinate it with as much overseas advertising as possible, around the globe. Imagine the embarrassment for the government, imagine the tourism backlash, no one will want to come to Thailand, bookings will be cancelled and a point will be made.
The governemnt may then think about it. 1am is ridiculous, 2 am was sad enough. I always though that gogo's and bars should close at 2am and the nightclubs be allowed till 4am, nothing wrong with that at all.

I must be talking to myself  TU.
I just spoke to a mate in Patong and he tells me the bars are still shut,he thought today was a Buddhist holiday.
I pm`d two fellow members to check this and my mate had got it wrong.
It looks like the Strike is now into its 3 rd Day.

The first time I came to Thailand, bars closed when the last customer left. As much as I like this policy, I don't see any benefit resulting from this protest. The government realizes it's temporary, and won't want to appear they're allowing themselves to be bullied into letting others set public policy. If 1:00 AM sounds unreasonable, try the pubs in London sometime. 11:00 PM closings, because of archiac laws. I was just getting started, and would have been happy to risk U2 rockets for another round. But lots of tourists still managed to party heartily there, as far as I could tell.
