Hey Bros's
Has anyone stayed at Kata Palm Resort and Spa recently. They indicate there is some "minor" lobby construction which immediayely raises a red flag for me. I understand its girl friendly but rater not vacation in a construction zone.
Any feedback appreciated.

I stayed at the Kata Palm Resort in February this year. Can confirm that the hotel is guest friendly. I quite liked the quality of the hotel and its rooms but it seemed to mostly cater for family tour groups when I was there. Late afternoon I usually have a few beers before heading back to the hotel for a sleep. My room overlooked the pool and it was often quite noisy so I needed the earplugs, there were many kids staying at the hotel. Breakfast was a nightmare to me. The food was adequate but it was just too crowded with noisy families. I like a bit of peace and quiet at breakfast time to recover from the night before and get used to keeping my eyes open.
If you are going in low season you might find it is much quieter and more enjoyable.
This information will not help your concerns about construction in the lobby area, as there was nothing of this kind happening at the time I stayed there.

Kata Palm was a customer of mine (I sold Wine) when I worked in Phuket and it is a good hotel.
IMHO, Kata Noi is the beast beach in Phuket.
I lived on Nai Harn and it is worth checking out as well..I would rent a car if I was you, that way you can cjeck out the whole island and not only spend time in Patong and Kata...besides 2 taxi rides from Patong to Kata will pay for a car for a whole day.

Yep I will definately be renting a car for my Golf and Beach Excursions.
Looking for soemthing right on the beach 2500- 3500 range.

I stayed at the Katha Thani resort couple of years ago. There is a massage place just outside the hotel, can't remember the name. I have been at the Kata Palm for a few days, Calziod as well, and the place is quite nice. It is a family place so there are kids around, but no matter. The night manger tried to hit us up for 500B joiner fee the first night we came back w/BGs but we said we had been told no fee. he then tried to say we booked singles, but a quick showing of the breakfast buffet coupons for 2 persons shut him up. the next night he just smiled at us as we walked in w/ girls in tow....

Can anyone recommend a hotel in the 1000-2000 bracket for February.
Kata Beach, GF and no up hill walks.
Within 5 mins walk of beach.
I am still not sure whether to stay Patong or Kata, maybe this post will help me decide.
