Well I sent an e-mail yesterday 18/9 to book a room for the 27 Jan 05 and checking out on the 22 Feb 05. Got my reply today 19/9 confirming my booking. The price they gave me was 1200 bht per night in the newer wing,if I was to stay in the older part it would be 1000 bht per night. I`m happy to stay in the new part of the hotel for the sake of 200 bht who gives a toss. Great hotel and free pick up. S05. Kone-Ling

My own experiences with the C&N. I stayed here in the rainy season, on the second floor. As per the recommendation for low season, I offered them 600 and they accepted. The first room they gave me overlooked the soi by the entrance - as I stepped out onto the balcony, the massage girls below roused a chorus of "oi"s and "handsome man"s; the bar next door was empty for the moment. Clearly, this would not be a quiet room. It did have a lovely brown bathtub and sink combination, though - the bathtub even had a ledge in the back for sitting. There was also a sign on the table indicating that there would be no hot water during most of the duration of my stay, as they were improving the facilities; the notice thanked me for my understanding as they made the hotel better for my next stay. : ( I requested a different room, one on the other side. The other side faces a parking lot and an empty field with coconut trees and some mud puddles from the monsoons. At night, a chorus of frogs rises up to serenade you. Much better than the massage girls. Bathroom: No bathtub, no shower stall - instead, that Japanese style of having all the water dump onto the floor. Nice for the group shower thing; less nice, in that I hadn't brought a pair of sandles that I was going to devote to use in the bath. At least they provide a mat to wipe one's feet off on, and they do clean up the dirty foot prints from me wearing my normal footwear in there when they clean the room. (I'm not always in the mood to take them off just to take a leak). They only provided two large towels (no hand towels) ; I didn't bother to ask for more. They also don't provide shampoo, just bar soap and a shower cap. Television: Mostly Thai channels. They did carry Fox News (I recall a discussion of this being of importance to some). One movie channel. VH1, but not MTV. No BBC, but Star 1. The power outlet for the TV failed during my stay, so I had to sacrifice one of the two others to make use of it. Ants: Yep, ants. A nice collection of them. On all the tables, on the bed, in the bathroom, everywhere. They don't appear to have molested me too many times, although I've molested them often when given the chance. Just the little tiny brown/red ones. Nothing like finding a dead one in the threading of the cap to one's tube of toothpaste; they do seem to get everywhere. Phone: Can't make any phone calls from the room, except to other rooms within the hotel. Instead, one has to go to the internet shop downstairs, where they want 20bath/minute to make a local call. Guest Policy: TOO LIBERAL. One bar girl decided she liked me. A lot. She showed up with her friend around 1 am one night, and had the lobby call up for me. Ok, no problem. But the next night, she walked right up to my door without a phone call from the lobby. Just knocked and knocked and knocked until I answered. Otherwise, no problems with the guests (at least, no problems caused by the hotel) Breakfast: None to speak of. There is an attached restaurant, so perhaps that's where they would serve it. I had no coupons. I recommend the place across the street from the entrance of the C&N. Open on weekdays only, but a decent breakfast for 90 baht. (everyone else was 100 or over, including the attached restaurant.) Bed/furniture: Nice King bed, firm. Tile floor, no carpet. No chair, aside from the stool/ottoman at the table, but there was a nice empty corner where a chair usually resides. The plastic chair on the deck was extremely filthy; it looked like it had been in a coal mine (it was white on the underside. Sort of), whereas the room next door had a nice new one. I used the bath towels to cover it when I wanted to dry some clothing outside (cheap charlie that I am). Minibar: Just drinks, no snacks, condoms, listerine or the like. One free water bottle per day. Overall: I did not dislike the place. For 600 baht, a reasonable place to stay. Definitely like the complentary airport pickup. They charged me 550 baht for a return trip to the airport.

TJ, Looks like we overlapped and didn't even know it. I'm staying at C&N hotel right now at 600 baht per night too and leave tomorrow. I agree with all your descriptions. The guest policy is too liberal it seems like anyone can stroll right by the front desk and get in the elevator. Also the cheap price can be a moron magnet. There were two Frenchmen conversating down the hall to each other at top volume at 2 am when I had to get up at 6:30 to get ready for a dive trip pick up! Also, there was a late night bar girl dispute. Fellas please agree on a price before hand! If she wants too much, don't take her out. The bathroom thing. Same same. Open shower, but no shower shoes. Also, no hand towles or washcloths. No facial tissue. I lucked out on the ant situation though. Minor issues really. For the location you can't beat that price. Next time I'll make an offer for a standard room and ask how much extra for a VIP and negotiate from there. I asked to see a VIP room and they are pretty large, with a good sized bathtub which is nice since your whole bathroom floor won't be wet if you decide to take an afternoon shower. Also it was up on the fourth floor. Don't know if they're all separated from the standard rooms, but it would be nice since I'd like to weed out the low class neighbors. All in all if you stay standard buy some flip flops and call the fornt desk to shut up your nieghbors. BTW, the mall on bangla road has excellent flip flops for 255 baht on the top floor near the bowling alley. Much better quality than the ones the street vendors sell and cheaper too! Okay flip flops are not the most sanuk topic I know. But this is just a C&N review. I recommend it with the above caveats. BC

W, Since others have gotten 600/night for low season, I'd try 700 and see if they bite. But after this Tsunami disaster, Phuket might not be a good destination to go to in March. Surely there will be lots of construction with the noise, blocked roads and sidewlaks, and a shorter supply of bargirls.

I like the C&N Hotel for its convenience and highly recommend it, but IMO I think the C&N Resort is much nicer. Set away from the strip, peaceful and quiet, much nicer rooms, beautiful pool with an unbelievable view, massage, sauna, and internet. Their restaurant, which also has a nice view, is on a terrace and catches nice cool breezes. Paid 1000/night in July. The only issue is paying 20 Baht each way for the 5 minute motorbike ride to Bangla, unless you rent your own bike. 100 Baht for the Tuk Tuks & taxis. The staff was really nice as well. A couple examples - Since it was midnight, I called down to the front desk to ask if it would be alright if my tgf and I could take a swim in the pool with it being so late. They said no problem and the security guard even came up to turn on the pool lights for us. Another example - It was raining one day and I wanted to go to Bangla and play some pool. Before I could make my way out of the front lobby the front desk guy stopped me. He ran around his desk, down to the street and hailed me a taxi himself so I didn't have to get wet. He even gave me an umbrella to borrow for the day.

Mate, Tsunami or not there is always construction, noise blocked roads and a short supply of 'decent' bargirls in Pratong, I lived there for 3 years and now hate the bloody place. March or any month will be the same, come shag cum again and go. Bash

Re-reading this thread, I'm noticing that people talk about emailing the C&N Hotel, but at no point actually mention the email address. Or website. Myself included. http://www.phuketdir.com/cnhotel/ Would appear to be their homepage, through which I communicated with them last. Bloody difficult to track it down too, with the use of the acronym as a name, and a non-personalized domain name.
