I knew there was something I forgot to do with Dew! 
The next time I saw her after this trip, she had already bought a book on the different beaches in Thailand, with sections on Koh Chang, Koh Samed, Krabi and Koh Lanta marked as "to do" - "CG, where we go next month?" I explained to her that sometimes I do not have free time and sometimes I do not have money, and I need both of these in order to go with her. Her reply was something like "CG, you take holiday, I take holiday, if you cannot give me money, it is OK, I can make money from 4-4-4 when you not in Thailand. When you in Thailand, I want to go to beach with you!"
I'll probably take her to Samed in a couple of weeks (here we go again) but I will likely not take her up on her offer for not paying her. Not paying her is a bad idea, me thinks.
