I absolutely loved the Blue Ocean Resort. Rate is about 1100 per night although that seems to be negotiable. This will get you airport transfer from/to the airport as well. Clean, nice rooms with a waterfall shower. My thai girl came out after a shower with her hair soaking wet because there is absolutely no way to shower without getting your hair wet. The manager (Jazz) is a lot of fun and has a great personality. Make sure if you use this hotel that they understand you will not pay a joiner fee. It should not be a problem. We went deep sea fishing one day and brought the fish back for the manager and she invited us up to the parts of Thailand most tourist never visit. She cooked us some fish and we sat around and talked with all the girls as they got ready for the "night". Absolutely one of the coolest experiences yet in Thailand. You will LOVE this hotel. I promise.

I like the Tropica Bungalows. We were just across the street from the beach and there were no buildings between us and the sand. 
The staff was great there used to bea joiner but not anymore. You will have to have your guest leave their ID at the desk but that protects everyone. I paid $37/US/night and it was well worht it. You are literally just around the corner from Bangala but without the loudness and the crowd.
The bungalows are surrounded by lush gardens and are very private and relaxing. By the way they won't take a credit card ove rthe phone so they just write your name down in a book and you show up. Your stuff should be safe too. I had a new laptop digital camera and other kit in the room for a couple of weeks and didn't lose anything.
