Top of Bangla is open but lower bangla (so I am being told) is attached to the curcuit that is attached to the beach Rd..
They cant turn that on until they have got all the bodies out of the flooded basements without risking serice staff..
They say 3+ days before power.. Yet I heard tonight that Kangaroo and U2 wer operating ?? On candles or what ??

After spending 3 months in Phuket earlier this year I was very concerned for some 10 or so people who I got to know well. Phuket, a piece of heaven on earth. My heart goes out to all the poeple there. Always wish that one day I can retire there. Never factored in the possibility of earthquake and Tsunami there. Coming from California, earthquake is no big deal. But Tsunami looks 10 times more terrifying. Does anyone know if Thara Patong Hotel stood well ? Stayed there in May this year. only about a few hundred feets from Beach Rd. Good people and nice hotel. Planning to go on a golfing vacation next April. But now this......not something one can ever imagine happen to a beautiful little island and its people

well I`m on ground zero, beach rd looks like abomb has hit it,rubbish, cars ect every where,the top half of Bangla was open last night,the water got as far as second rd,the bars around beach rd are f***ed.
They have heavy machinery cleaning up the rubbish,lots of peaple are still missing,me I have lost my tgf, drowned,I was lucky I foundr late last night and I`m sending her home to her parents place.
Toaday I`ll be heading down to my mates bar to help clean up once I`ve seen my girl off.
No more reports of big waves coming in.
