Avantika - Email exchange claimed 1,500B joiner fee, which was quickly waived. Room book includes a page strong warning against joiners and mentions 1,200B joiner fee, plus a note that joiners may not use facilities, especially the pool.
AGF and I brought back a girl about 1:45am, she handed ID to the desk guy, and no problems or questions.
A very, very nice place but I think too expensive for the value. For half the price you can get a suite elsewhere without the feeling that you're being overcharged for anything you do.

stayed in avantika on nov. 14 thru 18th.
book double occupancy (no additional charge) to avoid 1200B joiner fee.
1st nite, told front desk about booking and had no problem. there were no problems on subsequent nites as well.
the staff was friendly and provided great service. the room is clean and isolated from outside noise. the view is great! breakfast was good.
pricey compared to many other accomodations. personally it was worth it to me. I am used to such accomodations and it makes for a better experience.

Apologies bros, but I've done several searches on upmarket GF hotels in Patong, & seems like all the ones I had in mind charge a joiners fee. (DAMN THEM!)

Burasari
I've heard Thavorn Beach Village does not charge a joiner's fee, but it's kinda far North. I'd prefer to be closer to the nightlife center if possible.
Are there any upscale hotels (upper 3, 4 or 5 star) close to the action on Bangla Rd. that ARE GF? Any info on Club Andaman Beach Resort? Andaman Beach Suites? Salathai? other? Any help would be deeply appreciated!

Deevana Patong is a very nice place comparable to a 4 star resort. Book a Deluxe Room at Spa Wing and you'll get a private jacuzzi (outside) and direct acces to the immense pool.
Since you don't need to go through the reception to go to your room, you can let your gal wait in front of your room while you pick up your key. The rooms all are accesible from outside but you have to pass the security guy. I used to tip him a 100 baht note and seems happy with that. Never had a problem to bring a lady.

I can confirm that the Baan Sukothai is NOT girl friendly. I tried to book this hotel from Phuket airport and was told no charge for girl if she checked in with me otherwise it would be 1000 baht a night joiner fee. Avoid this hotel at all costs, joiner fees are robbery, nothing more, nothing less.

I like the Amari Coral Beach Resort. I have stayed there the last several years with the exception of last year when it was closed due to tsunmai. Always book double occupancy to avoid joiner fee. Right on the water with nice amenities. A short five minute tuk tuk to Bangla Rd. $150 night, includes breakfast and airport transfer. I also never had problem with Amari Palm Reef Resort on Koh Samui, but for whatever reason I have been told Amari in BKK not GF.
