Hi Minder.
this is where things get complicated.
i have another map which shows the same Bars in different places.....

but I know for definate that Toro Bar is opposite English Bar,
i shed enough blood because of the rivalry between the Bars.
but we have different maps.
perhaps thay are both wrong in little ways?

Slid off-road onto a gravel shoulder/ditch to avoid head-on with car cutting into my lane lane coming downhill around a blind curve. The only thing that would have been worse is if it had happened on the other side of the road - a sheer hundred-foot dropoff to the sea.
Limped the bike in to the nearest aid station/so-called "hospital" - a hole-in-the-wall pharmacy, but actually got good fixin' up.
Now for the good news - it was next door to a hole-in-the-wall motorbike repair shop. A double-header.
Coincidence?

Afterwards, I read in the Phuket Gazette that the biggest cause of hospital admittance of farangs in LOS is...you guessed it!

James Velvet, you hit the nail on the head.
If you want hardcore action then its bangkok. If you want a great holiday with a some action on the side then its got to be phuket.
I cant remember the names of the gogo bars where I saw the shows. I'm sure its the soi after "flash". As you enter- all the gogo bars on the right had the shows. They get people in, close the curtains at the main door and perform for about half an hour. There is always someoena t the curtains watching out for the boys in brown. Then they stop for a while till they get some more new customers and go at it again.
But I really wouldnt go again- its not something that makes me appreciate the women as i'd like to.

Nokna and Minder, thanks for the look-ups on that bar. After looking at the links I believe it is the Malibu Bar, I remember the pharmacy directly on the other side. Yeah, I met my "Nok" there so to speak. Nice to have a name with the memories.
In regards to the ongoing discussion about Phuket and BKK - I like both places and both cater to elements of what I believe combine to make for an ultimate vacation. UI and Velvet's interpretations of what both offer are right in-line with my reasoning's, that's why I always go to both places while in the LOS.
One piece of advice or opinionated input I can give people who come from long distances and want to visit both places: Arrange Phuket for the first leg of the trip. I plan my trip out that way because when I arrive in Thailand, all tired, cramped up, and somewhat delirious from that excruciatingly long flight the first thing I want to do is decompress. I want to unwind and ease my way into the pleasure pot. The more laid back atmosphere of the island provides a perfect starting point, then I move on to the epicenter for the major festivities.
This is not to say I can't or don't go all out in Phuket, I do, but it allows me to do so in a much more relaxed environment. It can be quite tranquilizing, surrounded by such lush, beautiful landscape, with the gentle rolling mountains in the background, palm trees all around, smelling the calm ocean breeze - a tropical paradise. At night I have such good times, with feelings as if I were in a make-believe world, surrounded by smiling, beautiful women, while I sip on rum and cokes and drink cold beer, having not a worry in the world except for the thoughts of which gem I should choose for the night. Hearing it rain early in the morning, while you have your 3rd or 4th session, and then falling asleep to it. Waking up to a fantastic breakfast, with the freshest fruit or whatever you else you desire. It is almost perfect.
BKK is for the more advanced partying in my opinion. Every time I'm there I feel as if I'm in the movie Pinnochio. The place where all the naughty boys go, whom eventually turn into donkeys, smoking, drinking, gorging themselves with all the vices that make life so beautiful. Ahhh BKK, another beautiful place, just more enthusiatic and a bit more sophisticated...
I believe by easing my way into the scene I am better prepared for maximum indulgence.

referring to 'urbans' initial post about lack of decent looking girls around phuket.
Is it your impression that it is due to the high farang season and all the nice BG's have been taken already??
Me and 4 friends will be there in 2 days for our second trip, but last time was in the low season with plenty of poontang for the picking, id hate to think that peak season will kill the ratio of farang/good BG's. Please lay my fears to rest !!!!

Digger, have no fear. There are plenty of girls around! It was suprising that during peak season with so many men on the prowl the numbe rof women still outnumbered the men by at least 5 to 1.
And i'm sure u will find a girl that will suit your tastes. With the season on you might have to look a little longer though thats all. You'll have a great time! No worries.
Thorny- I was shows everyday when I was there- I went around 2130 to 2200 in the evening everyday and there were plenty of punters sellin gme shows as soon as I hit bangla road. Follow them in and u migh tget lucky- hop around and u'll definetly see something of interest.
Listen to me- only one trip and i'm already sounding like a veteran!
Dagul- completely right- i'd definetly hit both places agasin- phuket to relax and bkk for some immediete action. The girls on soi cowboy were all HOT HOT HOT!
