Not been there since 5 years. What is the Shark club called now? Had some great times there. Is the club that replaced it as good ? I have heard that Patong is not what it was 5 years back. Is the Rock Hard still there?
I assume that the Shark is now one of the three aforementioned.

Patong was overpriced, overbusy, overtouristy, filthy beach with no charisma or charm any more when I was there.

No oZ..will try their instead if you recommend it on the next visit to LOS. Gonna try Nha Trang (vietnam) and Cambodia for a less touristy more realistically priced trip away.

Nha Trang is cool, but the P4P is quiet different. If you thought Phuket was in your face you definetly won't like Pattaya, it makes Phuket look like very nice. To enjoy the Phuket beach scene, you need to get away from Patong. There some great beaches (east coast is very good) but the Wet Season can spoil much of this.

I thought Karon was quite a nice beach, cleaner, not as busy as Patong, and not too many beach sellers. More of a family orientated place I thoght, but nice to get away from it all.

Just left Phuket. 6 March 04
Banana disco a much smaller disco than the others and has a B200 entry fee (gets you 2 drink coupons). Also has a bigger proportion of farang and Japanese girl tourists. However I also saw a few absolute stunners in there the night I went, much nicer than any of the girls I'd seen in either Taipan or Tiger on previous nights. Well worth a look. It also closed at 2AM sharp, which is a good time to hit Tiger as it stays open well past 2AM and seemed to get a big influx of beer-bar girls at that time.

Hey Power24,
Just curious about your complaint on Patong's expensiveness. I was there in November with Loknar and we thought the place was dirt cheap. We've heard others complain too so I'm just wondering if people were going different places than we were.
ST about 500-800Bht LT 1000Bht was our experience. Food drink and accomodations were really good and extrordinarily cheap. 
I agree with Danger Mouse about Karon too. Patong's beach started out nice but then the water turned brown by about our 10th day there.
We are planning to go back in June. We'll start up North and work our way back down. We had considered Angkor as well.
