Hello Tricyclops,
Although I abhor the gutless and cowardly terrorist acts that seem to be predominant in today's society I see no reason to live my life perpetually wrapped in cotton wool (the point of my posts).
Being a motorcycle rider in Phuket (110cc) I take my life in my own hands daily and therefore my life is probably more at risk here than if I lived in the Gaza strip.
I do not take terrorism lightly but nor do I see the point of spreading doom and gloom about the end of the world being nigh for anyone within a 200km radius of Southern Thailand.
I thought that the whole point of this wonderful forum was to spread goodwill, advice and humour, not bring the mood of the place down with pointless and silly gossip.
I will be spending this evening in a bar in Patong, drinking beer and trying to concentrate on watching a football match whilst surrounded by a bevy of Thai beauties. If a terrorist's bomb destroys the place and me in it I can think of few better ways to go out.
My apologies if you found my attitude earlier flippant - I hope you can understand where I am coming from.

Be vigilant, be sensible but just be aware !

Some years back I bought from Smith's bookshop what was alleged to be the S.A.S security handbook.
I have been lazy and not read it properly. All I will do is read what good advice it has (if any). Try and be sensible (difficult in my case).
There is probably more danger to your wallet, mobile and credit card? Especially if you are drinking too much ?
Unless of course the book 'Platform' by Michel Houlebecq is strangely prophetic ?
