No, FM, that's the *IRISH*, not a bunch of 'warriors' that wage war blowing up school-children, as the IRA commonly does. I believe some kinda wise man once said something like 'dead kids are dead kids' (I'm not sure, but I think the exact quote was something like "Sorry hzink, but dead kids are dead kids.", but I'm not sure. After all, what do I know).
Anyway, so I guess what you are saying is that it is okay to kill unarmed kids in order to 'carve out a country', but not okay to kill armed kids that are trying to kill you? You're just full of contradictions, or at least you seem that way.
We must be studying different histories, of different worlds, since yours is certainly different.

hello gents first posting anywhere on BKK tonight.
I have been to phuket maak maak.
When the aussie ship was in during april a high ranking police officer told me 45 extra officers in patong.
Yes not for naughty aussies but others.
Best thing about patong is you know when the ice truck comes, the beer man, the mao mao puuchaai, and the fat man on the parking.
My point is Patong is predictable and thats its beauty.
I am scared of BKK to big for simple island boy.

sorry gents perhaps I was unclear in what I meant.
Terrorists work on the principle of blending in becoming
invisible to law enforcement agencies.
My point about patong is its predictability makes for easy recognition of the unusual.
I have seen the terror inflicted on the innocent in two countries.
The IRA used to say their were not any innocent casualties only unfortunate ones.

I agree with Harry totally the callous acts I have seen the aftermath of, are the work of the truly evil.
The IRA as shown by countless cowardly acts, that they will not fight like soldiers in the open.
In Phukets case the police have really switched on to improved surveillance of potential southern seperatists.
The people I talked to in phuket were exceedingly angry over the murder of monks in pattani, but they did not want the farangs to know how deep their feelings were.

Which is no different than the idiots that suicide bomb in the middle east, or the cowards that kidnap innocent civilians, and then can't even make proper ransome demands (while the situation is sad, there is an element of irony when kidnapers have to counter and deny improper claims made in their name, and when they have to rephrase their demands, because they were too dumn to research their initial demands).

That's great to hear - and while I'll still stay out of there for the time being (plenty of other islands to see and hang out at), I wish them good luck. I also hope that the gov't 'takes care' of most of these cowards and their ring leaders.
