The Provos killed indiscriminately, many children, old people, Catholics, Protestants, soldiers, police, butchers, bakers, candlestickmakers. But at heart a lot of them were just working class gangsters making money from protection rackets, EU fraud, bank robberies etc. The foot soldiers who planted the bombs were often poor young men who were paid to do it.
Hizbollah has killed all sorts.
The Stern Gang killed all sorts and the other Jewish terrorist gangs at the time. Arabs, Brits it didn't matter much to them. The bombing of the King David Hotel for instance.
The list goes on. Violence is a political act. The more indiscriminate and vile the more it works because right minded people are horrified by it.
