Forget about all those nice tourist seafood restaurants on Beach Road (Thawiwong Road) they maybe serve great seafood but at a price tag that I must say are indecent.
A good place to go for seafood is a outdoor square at the corner of Bangla and Rat Uthit Road right behind Tiger Entertainement and behind the muay Thai place.
Lot of outdoor restaurants to choose from, at each places you have 2 or 3 menu books with pictures, you can choose your seafood yourself and they cook everything Thai way. All seafood is fresh from the same day. They serve beer and wine and they are open very late at night and I mean late here, I have eat there at 3 am. All these restaurants are not expensive and they serve the most tasteful seafood and fish that I have eaten in Thailand.
It is a very popular place for Thai people to and your little tyrack will be very impress with the place (in fact they all know the place) and that make a good point for you with the sanuck that will take place after that

the outdoor square you talk about is my favourite place to eat in Patong.
another good place is if you stand on Bangla with your back to Seadragon.
look slightly to your right and you will see a very narrow Soi.
many restaurants down there and where the Thai's go.
not many tourists find the place.

Yes your are right very good place to eat, my only complaint about this liitle soi is that sometime it's getting very hot there. Very popular place with the girls.

The best at the square is 'Chang Rai' seafood. Same owner as 'Chang Rai' seafood in the small soi. Since the owner is normally at the square, the quality and service is better there.
The name is not because of the fresh seafood coming from Chiang Rai, but because the owner comes from Chiang Rai province.

I don't know about the Chiang Rai but I use to go to the one with the roof just behing the Tiger, same same it is a family own restaurant and the owner is allways there.

i'm always called Tirak.
the 1st restaurant in the small Soi has good A/C.
in one of the little stalls further up i used to pick the table next to the cook as i like to watch the food being cooked,very hot there.
walk down Seadragon,past all the brs and hit the area where the Thai's live.
there are 2 stalls which serve good food.
also all day and night women walk up and down the Soi and will take your order and then get the food cooked from these stalls and bring it to you,wonderful food and service.
the girls from the Go-Go's use this service all the time.

Sorry guys I just had mental image of sitting in food area surrounded by Tie's.
I prefer the the little side street myself of bangla although I've never had a bad meal at the Islander, down the side street of bangla towards Patong Resort Hotel.
