when I am in such lazy mood and the weather is not good enough for the nice beaches around patong, I usually hide myself in "Hide Away spa". There is all what you may wish for relax without any kind of hassle: sauna, little bar with healthy snacks and traditional massage. The whole thing in the jungle's shadows in a very quiet athmosphere with new age music background... I love it.

i like Kangaroo Bar on Bangla. no girls during the day and you can just do the same as i did. have a beer/coke,read the paper and either sit inside the bar and relax or sit on the street and watch the world go by. there are 2 Kangaroo Bars and the one i like is the one nearest the beach.

Check out the Romance Bar, one block north of Bangla Rd about 50 meters away from Beach Rd. Talk to Weema, nice lady who owns the bar. Good massage joint across the street

Totally agree with you about the Hide Away spa, the nicest spa I had seen anywhere. I once bring a girl there and she had love it. I highly recommand this place .

Ton's of places around Patong Beach in the Day time, harder to find action than it is to find a quiet place! Try around Le Baron and Seaside Raja, both have Cafe's on the Beach and are diagonially opposite Soi Bangla. Great place to chill out

Try the 'Beach Bar' at Sunset plaza for a late afternoon drink. Since the 'Paradise' bar closed this is one of those places where you can enjoy the sun setting over the beach and seeing all others making their way to hotel or home. No hassle from girls here and the owner, Peter, from Australia is a great bloke. He is a long time Phuket resident and was the guy who was running the 'Firehouse' a-gogo and made the change to Tai Pan. He can tell you some good stories about Phuket and can give you any info you might want. The 'Beach Bar' is located at the south end of the beach road, on the corner of Soi Taweewong, across from the Seapearl hotel. Have to agree with all comments concerning the Hideaway Spa. Great place to laze around.

Aaaaah...the Paradise Bar. Haven't been to Phuket since it closed, but I'm sure it is sorely missed. Years ago I used to have a Canadian friend who lived in the Bungalows and drank in the bar til 6pm every day. He was easy to find, and that was handy in the pre telephone days.
