I`m finally gonna return in the end of november and I`m looking forward to it big way !
Used to go regularly to Patong in the mid 90`s and I liked it a lot,nice beaches and just the right amount of nice girls and nightlife.
Have of course been reading all of the post in this forum lately,but I`m still unsure if I`ve made the right choice this time ?

I was in patong last June and had a good time. I like Pattaya better as the prices are cheaper and no neogtiating with the bhat bus driver to get around Pattaya as the price for the most part is fixed at 10b by the local goverment. What a ripoff in Patong with the drivers.

Both have their plus sides...I still like Patong for the clearner air and water and the tropical enviro...
On my nasty side having done Songkran 2001 in Patong and then moved to Pattaya the comparison was huge.
So...when in " the need for sleeze" its BKK or Pattaya else wise I'm still a Patong Miester. Some of the dirtiest things that i have ever seen in Thailand we right in my room! Thank You

no way will all the places be closed by the time you get there.

Thanks for the replies,folks.I still see that Patong is more expensive than Pattaya and Bkk,just like it was 6 yrs ago.The thing I like about it is the beaches(beside the nigtly activities),but a downside is the prices on accomodation etc.
For a change I went to Koh Samui in Dec 99,it was a pleasant experience indeed,but a big disapointment was the weather (3 days with sun during my 20 day stay).
Later learned that the weather on these islands can be messy during winter,compared to Phuket.

check out http://www.latestays.com for one
and the second angle is get the latestays price and your cab driver from the airport will want to book a room for you....He can do the whole thing over his mobile and pull up to the hotel. No problem, Just know you price and the hotel wou want! I must admit that I don't do that cause I go for the same room same hotel deal etc...I even play the Airline flyer game...But if saving some bucks is the way to go...have at that web site.

Prefer patong to pattaya it`s a lot more relaxed down there, plus with it being smaller it seems a more friendlier.
There are some great deals for hotels down there depending on what you want and what is your budget.
Orchid Residence for a smaller hotel but with good rooms for about 500-600 baht at this time of year.
Patong Resort for around 1600-1700 (double room,no joiner fee) for a bigger hotel with all the trappings 2 pools etc.
Whatever you do your gonna have fun

In Pattaya beerbars 500st/1000lt tip plus maybe a little extra for good service is standard. Does this hold true for Phuket?
