I haven't been to the new Star Wars Club which used to be called Shark but compared to the other discoes such as Taipan, Banana and Tiger which if any did fellow board members find had the most freelancers and fun atmosphere??
I wasn't too fussed on Banana as there seemed to be alot of Farangs hanging out there although this may have changed since I was last there.
My favorite was Tiger but with Star wars opening where does everyone go??

Ah, good question. First of all, Star Wars is now called 'Star World' thanks to the lawyers from 20th Century Fox & George Lucas. Me and my buddy were there last night around 1:00am and it was empty while Tai Pan was packed.
Star World tends to get more tourist (farang) couples and bus loads of tour groups who get drunk and dance around in a circle acting all stupid. Plus you have to watch out for the ladyboys hitting on drunk guys. I usually go there around 12:30, have my two beers, then head over to Tai Pan if I don't see anything interesting.
Me and my buddy have been living here over a year and we both favor Tai Pan over the other places. When the girls get off work from the bar beers, they head to Tai Pan. Plus it usually stays open an extra half hour till 2:30am.
Tiger was closed during low season and barely has any people now at the beginning of high season.
I rarely go over to Banana since it's kind of small and gets crowded really quick since it's so small. And it's not near the other bars so it's not one of my usual bar hopping stops.
So, IMHO, Tai Pan is the place to go!!!

been there twice...
first time I was too drunk and can not remember a thing
second time my TGF was too drunk so was there only for a short while... was fun though... very busy... even in low season...

Safari is the after hours place on the out skirts of Patong. No one really goes there until after 2am so it's really no competition to the other discos.
My personal belief is, if you can't get it done by 2am, anything afterwards is just going to get ugly.

I've only been in Tai Pan once... there was some kind of jam-session happening... a couple of farang went up the podium and started "singing" songs... terrible... I got out of there as quickly as I could...
but I obviously need to give it another go...

i quite liked Tai-Pan.
not normally my kind of place, but occasionally went with some girls when they finished work.
a dear friend of mine used to freelance in there.
and I had to pass it on the way back to my room so it made sense to pop in and have one last drink.
never liked Banana, only ever visited it once.

It would be Taipan for me.
Star Wars/world is a little to dark in there, sometimes what you walk out with dosen't seem to be the same as what you were talking to inside. When the cruel lights of the 7-11 hit them you can get a shock. (on the other though I guess you could be pleasently suprised)
Last time I was there Tiger was shut but when I was in in high season it was very crowded.
Can never be bothered to go round to banana it always seems like to much of a hike plus I don't care for running the gauntlet of LB's on the beach road on my way.
Taipan seems to position itself somewhere in between with no cover charge and reasonable drink prices. Also pretty much next door is V.I.P. (formerly chicago's) which can also be worth a look.
Last time I was there in Oct. the restaurant in between Taipan and V.I.P. was getting made into a bar? club? maybe called the beach bar?/club? anybody have any more info on that one?

i agree about the walk along Beach Road late at night, it can be pretty scary with some strange looking 'women' accosting you.
the restaurant is gone?
sh*t, I liked it there for a late night snack sometimes and I picked up a couple of girls there on one of my visits.
cheap place to visit and pretty good food.

Banada Disco is fun if you want to meet farang or Yipoon (Japanese) girls. Also sometimes there are some really hottie FL on duty there, who are not the usual bar girl pros.
The trouble I have with most of the Phuket discos is that there is not enough dancing. At Taipan the cabaret seems to the the attraction plus the hordes of TG who come in after midnight. Must be my age, but I can get very tired by 0200 hrs.
Haven't been to Star Worlds yet, but from outside the music sounds great.
Have any of you tried the discos in Phuket Town? I enjoy the clubs over there, but it is a long drive home when one has been drinking all evening.

I prefer Tai Pan because of its relaxed easy Thai style atmosphere and its load of girls. Its my Phuket favourite as much as Nana Disco is in bkk for the same reason: I like to listen to music even with my TG company and I can’t sit still while doing so, hence it should be something like a disco for me. That’s the reason why Beer Bars in general or for example Grace in bkk are not my perfect places…
Banana is too western and a bit more strained for me… the others I haven’t been.
One nice experience I once had in Tai Pan: A TG was standing quit close to me when that nice elderly British couple came in. The TG very friendly bowed to them and greeted them a “Welcome in Thailand”. Hey, this girl must have some class I thought and this turned out to be true later… Not the cutest and youngest thing I ever saw but a great body and sex-wise very sensitive acting with high profile and wonderful French kissing (a delight). I spent most of my two days in P. with her. On the second evening she excused for having to leave me early in the morning for some praying (a holiday) which added to her class too. (And I know she really did because I was with her when she organised a lift to the temple with some other TG)
And btw – I’ll be there next week on Nov. 19 and 20 and I still have her number – five days and counting
