Five years is a long time between visits to a holiday resort. Things change, that empty skyline is now full of hotels. That favourite quiet corner of the beach has been taken over by a restaurant. And the prices go up and up. Has this happened to Phuket ? Have the prices gone sky high and the building speculators had their day? Is it still difficult to cross the road outside the Rock Hard? So many motorcycles, Tuk Tuks and cars! An endless string. Cross the road ? Wait for it lads then--Charge ! arriving at the other side puffing and wheezing. The Thais wander across as if there are no cars ! How do they do it ! Maybe they are not desperate to get inside the Rock Hard.

Is this a question only with a guess at what has happened or a question and answer? Anyway, yes prices have gone up but not much except for Lady Drinks!!! Hotels are pretty similar, IMHO it has not been a big tourist year for Phuket with the exception of the APEX 2 months. SARS had a big effect as did the security concerns. If you want to know more or specifics, please ask. Oz

Hmmm. You must be referring to how the Thais seem to have immunity to getting run over when crossing the street. It was amazing. We called it the Halodeck of driving. It was amazing.... You eventually get good at it but if a BG is holding your hand then maybe you have a sliver of protection? I was always having my mind blown when trying to cross the street there. I personally didnt think it was that bad. BG LT was 1000 standard.... 200BF unless they worked for the bar then 300B Only people that really tried to screw us was street vendors with no prices on anything if you dont negotiate good enough. Remember, they are selling whatever you want at about 150 places in town so let it go if somone wont give you a good enough deal. Loknar
