Anyone stopped here lately? Comments on any aspect of the hotel welcome. I hear the food is good and the place is small & right on Kata (Noi?) beach - correct?

First class restaurant/beach - never tried hotel.
Beautiful quiet beachfront & dining view, great wine cellar, outstanding Thai cooking school.
Prepare your gourmet lunch under chef's supervision - impress your GF mightily.
(Advance reservations generally needed for the morning cooking school session.)

The restaurant is great (and the wine list one of the best in Thailand), however I wouldnt really recommend staying in the rooms. The hotel rooms are in serious need of redecoration - nothing has been done to them for over 10 years (ML Tri has financial problems).
Kata Beach resort next door isnt too bad. Or if you like Boutique hotels you can stay at ML Tri's house up the road - Baan Kata.
The Boathouse is right on the beach - but the beach is Kata Yai.

never stayed in the rooms. looked at the pricelist and that did it. I have a customer who stays there every year between xmas and new year.
so we make it a habit to hold meetings right there at the porch, sitting in those rattan chairs overlooking the private beach. sipping wines and sampling the cuisine.
beats a meeting room anytime.

No Baan Kata Keere is owned by a farang called John DeGomery and his Thai wife Meaw. It is a 6 bedroom villa that looks down Kata Yai beach and is available for rent (about US$800/day). If you want to rent it PM me - I will get you a good rent and probably take some commission.
M.L. Tri's house is far more impressive and is very close by. It has a restaurant - M.L. Tri's kitchen - and you can also stay there (there are about 7 bedrooms). M.L. Tri is one of Thailand's most famous architects and his house - Baan Kata - is pretty amazing.
