Taking a mini break this trip and am looking for some recomendations for Phuket, Preferably Kata. Not too quiet, but certainly not Patong.

Well I have a house in Kata and can make the following recommendations...
There is not a great choice in Kata (actually not that great in Phuket full stop)
Lowish end: Peach Hill
Newish, clean, well appointed but not on the beach (beach is 150m away)
Mid-end
Kata beach resort: probably my best recommendation. Middle of the beach, ok price etc...
Also Kata Delight: Boutique hotel quieter, less facilities but interesting.
High end
The Boathouse: Great restaurant, average rooms, a little over priced but only 45 rooms in the hotel and fairly exclusive.
Want to know anything more pm me.

The Boathouse restaurant, accommodations, and beach are first class, worth a visit at the least. If you do, look into their Cooking School. Great way to do lunch - prepare it under their expert guidance and then enjoy (especially impress your friend) - considered the best cooking school in LOS. (Must make advance reservations).
Check out the Central Karon Beach Resort also, $51 US, halfway between Patong and Kata. Units perched on the hillside cascading down to the beach. Great restaurant /bar/unit views. Get a sea view unit - very romantic - pop a bottle of chilled bubbly on your private balcony at sunset. Paradise!

Katathani Hotel is located on Kata Noi beach - it effectively takes up the whole beach. The beach itself is certainly one of the most beautiful on the island - however, as the sea gets deep very quickly and there is a sizeable underlying current, it is not safe to swim in the water during the rainy season.
I have stayed at the hotel, there is not much wrong with it but it is not my style. When it first opened there were only about 70 rooms, now there are around 300.
1. It is expensive - around Bt7,000 high season
2. It's guests are 90% european package holiday makers and their families.
3. The food is very westernised and very standard hotel package tour fare.
There are plenty of facilities and it is perhaps a reasonable choice if you are going with farang wife and young kids.
There is one very good independent Thai restaurant located at the end of the beach but it is only open during the high season. There are a few okay bars behind the hotel. ML Tri's kitchen - an upmarket fusion restaurant is less than 10 minutes walk away. The Boathouse and Gung restaurant are within 15 minutes walk.

Can anyone help me on the following:
1. Any hotel on Puket other than the Andaman Cannacia Resort in Kata Beach, that has an in room private jacuzzi?
2 Available transportation from airport to Puket Town or Patong to and from Kata if I decide to stay there?
3. Is it better to take a honey with from Bkk or Pattaya or is there enough available there?
Ive seen some other suggestions about nightlife on Phuket, but nothing for the low season in mid June

1. Can't help you. Its cheaper to fart in the tub and get the same effect.
2. Plenty of options at the airport for transfer to whereever you want to go. Minibus packed in like sardines for 150 baht or private car and driver for 500-600 baht. Away from the airport the red Phuket Tuk-tuk taxis are everywhere. Highly regulated and controlled by the local taxi mafia. Very expensive by local standards and so many you cannot throw a rock without hitting one even in the low season. After a week of getting ripped off and touted between Kata and Patong you will really want to throw that rock as hard as you can!.
I've been to Patong several times in the "low season", it rains a lot more and the ocean looks grey instead of blue but the weather is still hot and the nightlife seems just as active around Patong.
3. I've taken girls to Phuket and I've shopped locally. If you have a regular then by all means take her to Phuket with you - it makes the GFE even more realistic to holiday together, especially if she has not been there before. However there are plenty of girls resident in Phuket and some would argue they are less money hungry than their Bangkok sisters - the only way to decide is to try both. Enjoy.

Stayed at the Katathani Spa and Resort during my recent trip. First time I had stayed in that area and at this hotel.
Hotel was bigger than I expected but very empty now. I had one of their deluxe rooms (suites?) and it was nice with a really big two person bath tub and great 'rain' shower. Big K-sized bed was very comfy.
Had dinner one of the evenings in the Thai restaurant and it was fair. Not outstanding but it passed. Breakfast is quite extensive with east & west flavors available.
Noted that swimming was not advised because of extremely dangeropus undertow or current. The sea was very rough so I was not inclined to 'test' it for myself. There were some local 'dudes' surfing tho.
Managed to have time for a foot masage by the pool which again was good but not outstanding.
My general impression was the hotel was quite nice, clean and my room was pleasant. Was disappointed by the staff who seemed indifferent at best. Not extremely helpful and didn't have the usual Thai smile and desire to please attitiude.
Didn't have time to check out Boat House or Mom Tri's but would like to on a future tour.
It is at least one hour drive to the airport with no traffic and I can imagine it being 1 1/2 during a busy week day or during high season.
I enjoy Laguna area much more and probably will go back there next time. Not really encouraged to give Katathani another ride but could see it being good for families or if you have a business conference.
