have a free flight to phuket i am a newbie to phuket trying to get a game plan together any help would be great

No lists that I'm aware of. I was there 3 weeks ago and stayed at the Baan Boa Resort. This place was nice for the price completely guest friendly. It is directly across from the beach at the very far end of Patong (Karon side) I walk-in negottiated a 900baht rate (7days helped to get a good rate) with breakfast. Slept in every day but the last only to discover the breakfasts were near to worthless. Bettter to save 100baht which they will negotiate for and find it on your own.
Place has a nice pool, great staff, friendly ambiance, super location in that it's close but still quiet to the action. Negatives- no lift. Fourth floor can be quite a walk after a long night. Hope this helps.

I usually stay at one of the Guest Houses on the far left end (as you look to the sea), no joiner fee, big clean rooms with great views over the Ocean and nice Balcony. OK breakfast but cheaper without. Very friendly, its called Nilly and Low Season is around 800 Bht.

If you are looking for a beachfront hotel that is guest friendly, the Patong Bay Garden Resort and Phairin Hotel both charge 500b joiner fee per girl. The only difference is PBGR has a pool and charges 300b-1000b more for a single room. Hope this info helps.....
