OK guys this has nothing to do with TG's or beer but does anyone know of a good Optician in Patong???
Are there any in Patong or do I have to go to Phuket town???
I'm there in a couple of weeks and need to get some work done on the specs (reading only)...

I know a mate used Charon optical on Rat U T Thit near the Thai Farmer bank... Would imagine that the one in ocean is also OK...
A little off topic but I know 2 people who have had lasic surgery in phuket town and are 100% pleased with the results. Apparently as it was only started a year or two back they have the most up to date 3rd gen style equipment.

I did not actually ask... The one time I would not be bartering or bargain shopping would be with lazik ya know !!!
I myself will probably have lazik in 5 - 10 years... The technology is evolving fast but does still have some small % of people that end up with incurable complications. My eyes currently are fine up to about 10m (esiest to fix apparently) after that faces become less distinct so pussy hunting means a close inspection  I think another few years for my eyes to deteriorate a bit more and the tech to perfect itself a bit more and it will be about right.

I can recommend the optician who has a shop at the beginning of Soi Bangla near the seaside at the right coming from the beach. Good service, good prices and beautiful and fashion frames. Only him in Patong has "Silhouette", "Calvin Klein", etcetera.

Managed to get the reading specs fixed and very cheaply too, the mongrels in Aust wanted me to leave them behind so they could slug me full price for something that I had done whilst I waited (didn't take them long at all)...

Yeah my father looses reading specs all the time.. He has a good pair for sitting reading the paper etc and a pair he keeps on his head / round his neck to just scan a menu or similar (his eyes are like a hawk at distance but crap anything shorter than a couple of feet)..
He could get quality measured up but not custom ground reading glasses for about 1/5th of what he pays for crappy plastic lensed ones back home.. I think he bought about 10 pairs.
