I have been to Banyan tree a couple of times. You should not have any problem. The staff is very attentive and my TGF was very happy with their service. Definitely try the Spa suite. The bedroom is on top of a lotus pond and some have waterfall across from the pool. The only problem is the beach, the hotel's beach is not right off the property and all the room has only the Laguna view. If beach is important to you then consider Amanpuri, it have much better access to the beach.

compexec, I once stayed at The Chedi for 10 days and every night I had some bird from Patong stay in the room.
No problem, when youre shelling out that kind of dosh the banyan tree commands, they just dont care.
If anything its the girls who tend to feel uncomfortable because of the overwhelmingly posh surroundings the food even though thai, is not the kind they really like.
You shouldnt have a problem.
But I know where youre coming from. When I stayed at The Sukhothai once, it was quite a long walk of shame.

Thanks everyone!
So if my TGF (should be LGF) and I can take the nasty looks from my fellow westerners (Falang) we should be fine. This will be my first venture out of Bangkok in Thailand, so I wasn't sure what I would be facing. The Villa is booked, now I just need to wait... Damn.
