Promised an FR on this but thought the details should come first.
This is the Ground Floor of the long standing Rock Hard a Go Go which has now shifted upstairs to where Smokin Joe's Roadhouse was! Is that clear?
Club Rio is a bit like a small version of Gullivers in Bangkok, very nicely fitted out with a mixed wood and slate floor, a few sofa's, 2 pool tables and a couple of free Internet Computers! The Lighting over the main area sucks and does somewhat spoil the look of the place.
Very quiet early with only a handful of punters there by 8, the place seats about 80 I would guess. They have mixed menu of Thai & Western. Nice inclusion to Patong and a good place for an early chill out.

BTW, many of the Bar's in Patong are staying open till 4, including Club Rio!

It just seems to get later and later there. 2 months ago it was 3.15am (apart from Safari that just seems to stay open all night).
I notice a similar story beginning to emerge in Pattaya - I left Hollywood on Saturday night at 2.50am and it was still going strong.
Even Bangkok appears to be relaxing a tiny bit. Last weekend in Narcissus, the music didnt stop until 2.15am - when things were at rock bottom, places were stopping the music at 1.30am.

Recently went to Phuket after about a 3 year hiatus. Only had one night to play and went to Rock Hard knowing it from days gone by.
It was a sad state of affairs. It was a Saturday evening, got there around 9 pm and very few customers. The real disappointment came in the form of very few attractive dancers. Most were overweight, none were really into dancing and since there were few customers a air of complete boredom hung over the place.
Added to this, it started raining buckets, so the ability for additional patrons to file in was limited and also I couldn't make an escape.
There was one very decent BG that had a good body and the helmet was an 8 but she realy didn't even care to sit and have a drink as she must have been waiting for her regular or because she was the best of the lot, was already independently wealthy.
With the rain so bad, didn't bother to check out the new downstairs. Also noticed the disco across the street looked closed. Too bad as it was usually good for fishing as well.
Rock Hard had always been a good source for some very beautiful girls. Never was able to find one for LT as they all went for ST. I think it also depends on where you stay. I tend to like the hotels in Laguna and I think many BG's get turned off by the distance.
I read in one of these threads that Patong is becoming more family friendly and I would have to agree. Didn't even see as many LB flitting and dancing around the neighborhood.
Did notice that Christen MP was still there and actually looked like they had spruced it up. Didn't have time to make a pit stop but I guess this is also considered low season so maybe that's why everything was a bit slow.

Could not agree more Jack. Very poor choice currently at Rock Hard & Rio appears to not for P4P except for FL's (not one there when I was there!).
The Beer Bars are like always, one or two gems in with the many more not so precious stones!
Flash a Go Go was terrible, I did not think it could get worse than last time but it had. Maybe just the time of the year or maybe a sign of the changing trends.

Flash went down the hill very fast. Started when they got their 30 days closure for their shows. It never came back to old days fun here. Pitty, was a good bar with good atmosphere, now not more then a dump. Don't waste your energy going up the stairs....
