Yup, I have.
Boutique hotel on the hill outside Patong.
Very clean & high quality but relatively small. Quite good value.
Major drawback is getting transport into Patong (too far to walk). The owner will drive you in a very nice car but if he's off picking-up at the airport you'll need a tuk-tuk - and there aren't too many around that side of Patong.
Didn't think it was particularly TGF-friendly. Mine was with me when we got picked-up from the airport but someone else in reception was getting a bit of a hard time.
Haven't been back though - now always stay at Baan Lai Mai, which is similar quality / style / price, but within walking distance of where I want to go.

I really like what I'm hearing about this hotel & am considering booking this place, but it seems kinda far from the action. I've never been to Thailand (next month will be my first time), so I don't know if renting a moped to come & go from the hotel is a good option or not.

It's a 5 to 10 minute drive from Bangla depending on how the traffic is.
If it's your first time in Thailand.. you might want to skip renting a moped in Phuket. In three years of visiting Phuket a couple times a year I've lost count of the number of dead moto riders I've seen (mind you almost all were Thai, only saw one dead westerner). I still rent a bike every time I go. Just presume that *everyone* is trying to kill you and you're usually ok. It's all about defensive driving... A moped is a fun way to explore the southern part of the island.
You can always book in Baan Yin Dee for a couple days, and then move to another hotel if you like. Baan Yin Dee is very nice on the surface, but they charge 4 star prices for some spotty service. They do have a limo that will drop you off anywhere in Patong for free.

Thanks for the tip Boobies (love the name). I'll consider hotels closer to the action.
Btw, do you remember how much you paid to stay at the Baan Yin Dee? The lowest price I could find is over US$200 online, but I've heard forum members talking about rates in the US$90-$100 range.
