Stayed there about 2 years ago. Had an oceanfront room that was ok. Nothing special,but a reasonable price.
The grounds are very nice and the breakfast area is great. Nice atmosphere and good food. Short walk or tuk tuk ride into the main town area. You can also follow a short path around a point and spend time on the Le Meridien beach.
All things considered it's ok but nothing super special.
You can also book activities with the staff in the lobby.,ie,sight seeing tours,canoe adventures,elephant rides etc.

I've never stayed at this Amari, but if they run this hotel like they run the the one's in BKK then my suggestion is to stay somewhere else. I've stayed at the Attrium in BKK and they were not guest friendly. Other members have also stayed there as well as the Watergate and said the say thing.
Also, the hotel staff was not professional and rude at times, especially towards the working females. They really asked a lot of questions about the female, where she worked, ect, before letting her go up. This is after checking to see if she is able to go out, meaning double occupency.
If you do decided to stay at this hotel chain, then book double occupency. If not, then they will charge you possibly an extra 800-1000 baht per night when you bring in guests.
I hope this helps, eventhough my information is about the hotel chain in general and not this hotel specifically.

so.......is this hotel worth the $142 usd per night? I saw a map of patong beach, it seems that this hotel is situated right on the beach, wheras many others across the road.
Any comments or suggestions?
