I recently stayed at the Holiday Inn on the northern tip of Phi Phi. Many magazines listed it as the best place to stay on the island, as far as hotel quality goes. It's definitely nice, but very secluded. If you are traveling with someone and are looking for quiet seclusion and romantic evenings then it's your place. The hotel is virtually nothing but couples.
If you're looking for clubs, bars and the singles scene, then you do not want to stay there. Stay at or near the port, where all the clubs and bars are. It's a singles paradise--lots of beautiful women from all over the world. Also, if you do stay there, make sure your hotel room or bungalow has air conditioning. Some hotels offer ridiculously low rates, but no AC. That would be a rather unfortunate surprise.

nokna - I find it hard to assess the details on phuket.com, such as gf how long a walk is it really, staff attitude, etc. Info is always appreciated though. I'm not in the "cheap, clean, close as possilble to the bars" crowd so getting first hand experiences with hotels is harder.
