A friend and i are heading to BKK and Phuket in early December and are wondering what the absolute best places are for nightlife are in Phuket. Some good places to sit and drink and then some to move onto for the girls...? any suggestions will be very appreciated. thanks

Patong is the place to go on Phuket.
are you talking about places to sit and drink alone or sit and drink with the girls.
in Patong,very difficult to sit anywhere without a girl wanting to sit on your lap.
i can tell of my favourite places for the girls,but different people like different places.
let me know metaliclink,and i will tell of some nice bars,go-go's.

For a quiet drink with no hassels I like to go the Paradise Bar.(on the beach road near Holiday Inn). Nice setting,good place for a chat and relaxing.Staff are a bit dead but still a good place for a beer. There are a lot of nice bars on that strip on the beach road that are nice for a quiet beer or two. Banana lounge(at the Patong beach hotel)is a nice place to kick back.
Further down the beach road towards the Club Andaman hotel, is a group of beer bars that are not as rowdy as soi bangla and and are good for an afternoon happy hour. I usually go to Sailor bar, Sunrise and Irish bar. Friendly girls and good fun. Then you can try Soi Bangla. This place is wild. Hundreds of bars and hundreds of girls. Head down soi sea dragon, soi eric and soi gonzo which run off bangla. Great fun to be had here.
There are only about 3 popular discos. Usually get going about 11:00. Banana (on beach road above banana lounge,part of patong beach hotel) is a good one. Good music and plenty of girls. Taipan(at the top soi bangla) is also a good one and full of girls. Try Safari for something different. Its just out of the main drag up the hill. Sort of an outdoor bamboo hut sort of thing. Shark club used to be the no. 1 disco but apparently it has closed down. There are few other discos but I don't know much about them.
As for go-go bars, I don't really go them in Phuket. Ive only been to Rock hard and Pink panther, but not in the class of Bangkok and Pattaya.
Anyway it wont take long to sort it out. I'm sure you will have a great trip. I wish I was going there too. I am going to Bangkok and Pattaya in Jan so that will have to do.

Thanks a lot Nokna and Nat What you said is pretty much out ideal plan for our first night there, will print out what you said in point form so we don't miss a thing!
We are looking for the sort of all round adventure... quite drinking, then getting more wild as the night goes and and the girls get even hotter with the mroe drinks... :P i've been to BKK and Phuket.. and umm Koh Samehd be4 but they were with either parents or gf... now i'm totally free with my best mate so look out Phuket! thanks again

my favourite places are as follows.
go-go's-
Pink Panther(but had gone a little downhill on my last visit).
Playschool.
Bang Bang.
all the above are in Soi Seadragon,favourites as many friends work in them.
am always welcomed back from the girls,mamasan,security,waitresses etc.
a lot of girls moved from PP to Playschool and BB.
Rockhard.
but upstairs bar(sometimes known as Smokin' Joe's)
i find this place has the best looking women and normally the raunchiest dancers.
RH is on Bangla Rd.
not into the disco scene,but used to visit Tai-Pan with the girls after they finished work,they liked to wind down there and have a few drinks.
always busy,freelancers mainly.
bar beers-
English Bar(Soi Eric).
owned by 2 English friends and never busy,has some decent girls who are not too pushy if you just want to sit and drink.
Danny or Alan are always there and eager to chat to new customers.
you will get no bullshit from the girls here.
also a very good place to look at other bars and let your eyes roam.
sometimes you see another girl in another bar and off you can go.
right opposite the toilets and you will see most of the girls visiting them at some stage of the night and if one you like,then note which bar she returns to.
Lion Bar(Soi Seadragon).
favourite day time bar,just liked to hang out in here with a beer and the paper.
some of the girls can be very pushy and frankly not the best looking,but i have a special friend there and i was left alone.
i like to hang out in Seadragon during the day and just watch the girls go about their daily lives.
a lot of the bars in Seadragon have girls living above the bar.
Kangaroo Bar
this is on Bangla and run by 3 girls during the day and another good place to watch the world go by.
friendly place.
these are just a few of my favourites,but everyone likes different things and you will certainly find many more places to drink in.
i'm quite boring about where i go,i like familarity and just hang out in the same places,day after day,night after night.

Enjoy this trip without the parents or gf.
Here are my suggestions as someone who keeps a year round residence in Phuket. I only wish I was in it year round. Take one Soi on Soi Bangla per night. Start with Soi Easy, there are many bars, lots and lots of hot chicks, Nokna is a regular Phuket visitor but he sticks to Soi Eric, which is ok because if he came to Soi Easy he would screw all my girls there, as you head into Soi Easy go down the left side, you will see a bar second to the end called Josephine’s, cool owner, very very cute girls, young and good English, Oar is probably one of the hottest girls in Phuket, she gets there at about 10pm, the owner buys shots a regular intervals and it also a great place to watch all the shenanigans that go on at the adjoining bars, you can skip the Soi with the Katoeys dancing out front, Soi Eric is cool, very much like Soi easy with one DJ playing music, good food too if your are hungry, ANYWAY, you get the picture. But when you are ready to take it down late night, go to the VIP (next to Taipan at the end of Bangla road or Banana Disco on beach road) If you go to the Banana, then get there about 11:30 when the place is rocking, as you walk in the front door the bar is almost in front of you, pass in front of the bar (you have to squeeze past all these cute girls to do this) and look at the group of girls holding court on the farthest corner facing the dance floor, one of their names is apple, the hottest one with small breast, she 100% rocks in bed like no other girl in Phuket, ( I have tried lots of them) she has one friend with fake tits, NO KATOEY who will double team with her and eat her box and vice versa, all for 2,000 baht per girl all night.
These are my top suggestions. All other suggestions have been good, it is just a matter of opinion, Phuket is a great place and you will enjoy, if you make too many plans believe me they just go out the window when you get there because there are hot Thai girls everywhere.

Thanks Nokna and the others for your excellent advice on Phuket R&R. I sometimes have a jolly good time chatting up the ladies in the beer bars before getting a bit of a workout on the Banana disco floor post midnight, then usually some PT later in my bedroom.
Actually I'm a rather old Pattaya hand from the early '70's , but lately much prefer the Patong scene; although I am usually stabled a couple of beachs up the road.
