Hi guys. Can anyone tell me if it is possible to get walk in accommodation on Phi Phi early January? I would be happy with a half decent guesthouse but I'm not sure if I need to book somewhere now. Hopefully not as I don't know my arrival date, other than it will fall sometime in the first week of Jan. 2005. Thanks for any advice given.

not sure I can help as I'm still a very very very n00b here, but I was in Phi Phi 2 weeks ago - Ton sai bay - and I didn't get the feeling there is so much hotel choice there, it's not very big. Knowing that lot of people go there for the NY holydays, it's maybe possible but I think hard. I would suggest to book something as soon as u get your plane ticket edit : when I was walking there I found an old "collegue" from work, he told me he was there since 1 week and wanted to stay few days more but he had trouble to find an hotel, and it was the low season

Your chance to get a good hotel in a good location will be very limited during that time of the year. Remember waklin rate is more than likely higher than book from internet. You may able to find rooms inside the village where most of the back packer stay. The rate is cheap but no AC.

Book a room before you get there or try Charlies. You can expect to pay 2500b a nite in Jan as this is the best time to go and the island is heaving.

Just saw this thread, this is one of my favorite islands for diving (scuba, not muff). I'm going there next week. Just booked into the PP Charlie, the PP Princess was full. January is high season, I strongly suggest you book ahead. I've had very fast response from: http://www.hotels2thailand.com/ However, you need to give them a credit card when booking. Another good one is http://www.asiatravel.com And of course, you can check out the links on the main page of this forum.
