The Phuket section of the forum unsurprisingly is not as extensive as the Bangkok info. I'm coming to Phuket, (Patong Beach) for 5 days just after Xmas and wondered if anyone had some good local knowledge of places to go. There have been a few references to Christin Massage. Are there any other good MP's for soapy or oil? Any Go go bars/nightclubs to avoid or that are especially good? I have searched the forum and just wondered if there was any more up to date news. Any info much appreciated like the thread on pool bars which is very helpful.

Patong Beach is mainly about Beer Bar action with a random half-assed gogo stuck in this or that corner. If you enjoy Beer Bars, ala Pattaya, then you will probably love Patong Beach.
Most bars are all in the same area along the one-way street (name escapes me at the moment) so just walk around and beat off the mob of girls until you see something that interests you. And yes, there are some katoeys about, but as long as you're sober you'll be okay.
Prices for hotels, internet, transportation, food, and just about everything else are higher than BKK by a large margin. Bar fines, however, were about half what I was paying in BKK. Go figure.
As for MP's I can't help much. I got a nice sunburn in Phuket, so I wasn't as motivated to get an end of the day massage as usual. I can tell you they are everywhere though, so try one or a few and give the rest of us a nice FR. Best of luck and hope to hear what happens.

The main entertainment street in Patong is called Soi Bangla, as Popsecret said lots of good Beer Bars and a couple of half decent Go Go's hidden amongst a lot of mediocre ones. Try Rock Hard as a good first stop.
Bar Fines in Beer Bars are 250-300 Baht, 500-600 in Go Go's. No other Soapies in Patong but a couple of good Oilies in Phuket town.

Christins is crap.
The sois on bangla road too are unpredictable...take a walk and see what you like.
Soi Eric is ok but what floated my boat big time on my last visit was the Tiger Complex towards the end of Bangla...beer bars below and a disco above.....loved the disco...something for everyone....hard to leave alone.

Hmmmm....
Surprised noone bothered mentionning Taiger, Taipan and Bananas - 3 bars/clubs heaving with freelancers - many of them pretty nice too.
They are something of a cross between CM2 and Hard Rock in Bangkok. Girls are gtg for Bt1500 all night. Especially good over Christmas and New Year because a lot of uni girls go there to earn some extra pocket money.

I've just returned to Bangkok after spending 6 days in Patong. Plenty of action and fun, but don't build your hopes up too much with regard to the quality of girls. Fine lookers are few and far between.
If want to escape from the hoards of testosterone fuelled tourists and meet the best looking girls in Phuket, then get yer' arse over to Phuket Town. Only twenty minutes by taxi from Patong, it's amazing that so few take the trouble to go there. Try Fantasia, the old cinema. Orbit style dancing show starts at 10:00 pm. Some very pretty girls in here. They also have PR girls and a fish bowl with some nice ladies who are good to go for THB 2800 LT.
If that doesn't take your fancy, then try one of the four Pink Lady establishments. Some good discos and bars in town too and a much more authentic Thai feel than manic Patong. Here's a useful link, albeit a little out of date:

A word of caution though, it's better not to go by yourself as the experience can be a little intimidating.
