there was a huge earthquake, 8.5, in Indonesia. BBC mentions tidalwaves. They don't say what damage they did. They mention "The impact of the earthquake has been recorded as far afield as the Thai capital, Bangkok, and Singapore". Impact meaning damage or effects of the quake meaning it could be felt here? I didn't notice anything. Did anybody feel it here? Scary shit.

Turn on BBC news on the telly, 150 killed in Sri Lanka by tidal waves, 26 in southern india, shockwaves in Bangladesh and Malaysia, earthquake epicentre off the coast of Sumatra near Aceh.
Saw some footage in phuket tourists being evacuated, apparently 14 people are feared dead there.
All of a sudden C&N Hotel seems like a cool place to be.

Looks like the Andaman Sea area got hit hard with big surf and waves. Low farms lands, bungaloes, and marinas looked like they were swept out to sea.
Damm !! right during X-Mas holiday season.
Hopefully not much lives and property were taken.
Tourism is gonna be hit hard once again.
You'd think they have some better prediction system/ early warning system.

sky news reports that patong beach in phuket wiped out at 10am.all the bars restaurants and discos on sea front wiped away.100 divers missing.the pictures show the place in awful state.also hit hard were krabi karon and kata.
