Tai Pan disco and Tiger disco had lots of girls and customers last night, (Jan 4, 2005).
Crocodile wasn't as occupied but still a bit of fun.
Lot's of bar-girls in the beer-bars.
The only evidence outside of Beach Road of the Tsunami, is that the hotels have rooms available - and the plane was only half full - and the dive boats are only half full.
This is great for tourists - peak season weather without the crowds. And the hotels have lowered their rates a bit.

Can you let me know which hotels have lowered their prices as Ive een trying to find a reasonably priced hotel for February and if anything Im being quoted far higher prices than what their prices are shown on the internet. I even had one hotelier tell me that rates had gone up because of hotel room shortage (which I know is a load of crap!).

Bangla road and Beach road (Thaweewong road) are now almost totally cleared of rubbish and debris although there is still sand on the roads.
Most of the businesses along Beach road and about 25% of Bangla road are severely damaged (gutted) and will not be open for a long time.

The manager of the Savoy Restaurant (corner of Beach Rd and Bangla) - where we were having breakfast when the waves hit - told me he was aiming to be open in a month. The two time-limiting factors are 1) insurance adjusters in short supply and 2) builders etc. equally busy.
