good advice for you.............get a tuk tuk to patong beach, ask for bangla road loads of them round there but watch out for the ladyboys!!! karon beach is very quiet!!!!!!!!!!!

Of course there is action in Karon, I do not know what Bangkokbabe is talking about.
On the beachroad you will find Karon Center, which has about 30 or so beer bars. Further down the beachroad towards Patong driving up the circle to your right, you will find another complex with beer bars. This has maybe 15 or so beer bars.
When staying in Karon, give Kata Center a try, too. There is a beer bar complex after coming down the hill from Karon on your left hand side. This complex has about 30 or so beer bars.
For sure Karon is much more quiet that Patong, there is no doubt about this. When I stayed in Karon I had my big bike and I usually partied in Patong without alcohol, but since I like beer bars, I found it also pleasant in Karon and... Kata, too.

Will stay on Karon around Christmas and New Year,
just one more question - any MP there (or not at all)?
What about beach masseuses - if there is really nice looking one doing massage at the beach, does she continue the job at the hotel, if (well) paid?
Any experience?

As for MPs in Karon, I have to be honest and say that I do not have any experience with this. I do not think that there are any large MPs, but I might be wrong. I only know a bar with rooms for massage opposite the beer complex close to the circle. In Patong you have quite a large MP called Christins and I would recommend you to go there.
As for the masseuses on the beach, I did not see any nice looking ones and I do not know if they would continue the job at the hotel. I always had my TG giving me massage at the beach and... in the room, this is the way I have handled it. The TGs were paid anyway and if one could do a proper massage I let them do the job.

Apparently you have never made it past Patong... Even if there are beer bars in Karon and Kata, I fully agree with you and Bangkokbabe that Patong is the place to be! But do not mention Patong beach...
