Due to business commitments I cant get back to Phuket until mid September.
What's the up side and the down side of visiting at that time.
I would especially like to know how bad the Mosquito’s are?

i've been to Phuket twice in Sept and I experienced no real problems.
Days were hot,some Days it rained and some Days it didn't.
i must be lucky because I have never been bothered by the mozzies.
but a few dabs of Lemon juice on your wrists is supposed to be a good natural repellent.

Phuket is great all year round, September is the tail end of the Wet season! Nokna, your a much smaller target than UKgit! He covers a hell of a lot of Real Estate! Great target for the Mossies!

Alright Mate,
Phuket in September is bliss cos the guide books say it's rainy season so the tourists who DON'T know about tropical rain stay away. Last Sept it must have rained maybe 15-20 days of the month but I can't remember a shower lasting more than 20 mins. After the rain there is a lovely freshness & coolness about the place and couple that with less punters and more babes and I think you'll have a whale of a time ( no pun intended !!! )

as Spurs Man says the showers are just that,showers.
rarely last long and I love the fact that you know when it is going to rain and normally have around 15 Minutes to get to your favourite Bar and have a Beer while waiting for it to stop.
but what I did find was that it would rain quite a few times during the Day,but during the Night was when you would get the Hours and Hours of heavy rain.
BTW.
i was in the Nou Camp in 1999..............
paid £150 for a ticket from a tout and sat in the middle of the German Fans........ 
but the last couple of Minutes was fun......

October is the worst month for being in Phuket - it rains virtually everyday while it is usually sunny and nice in Bangkok, Pattaya, Hua Hin. And it can rain for literally days on end.
September is nearly as bad but the weather is fairly aweful throughout the country. The weather system in Phuket is far wetter for far longer than in central Thailand.
During the rainy season Phuket averages roughly 3 times the rain fall of Central Thailand.

And it isnt just sharp bursts. I tend to give Phuket a miss in September/October and I have a house there.

My FIRST post!!!
i finally found a thread where I can make a small contribution.....
Was in patong in october 2004 during a week, and the weather was not that bad, no rain during the day and violent but not long at night....By the way, I just didnt see any rain, only the effect on streets...in fact, most of the time, I was inside a disco or at the hotel taking care of a girl so...except if you are there to make your skin darker (but in this case other beach of phuket are better choices) dont worry about the weather....
PS: even, if you want to "bronze" (sorry for my english I am french...dont know the correct word to say "burnt by the sun") it wont be a problem....as I said rainy time seems to be violent but short and widely espaced...
PS2: of course I went there only one time so it could have been an exception.....

I came over from Samui to Phuket on a chopper, for a about 3 weeks to search for my new house as I had to move to Phuket. I had a very dark skin afterwards as it rained pretty much only in the nevening or night. Sure enough for getting a nice suu tan and the BGs don´t like too much sun anyway... It was a perfect time to come to Phuket - at least for me
