I stayed here during the last few days of my most recent trip. I was staying at the C&N Resort & Spa, which I really like, but I wanted to be close to the beach at the end of my trip. I was also meeting up with an old TGF of mine, who I hadn't seen in a couple years, so I wanted a place that was a litter bit nicer and more centrally located than where I had been staying. I also liked how it was close to Starbucks, which I found myself going to every morning for breakfast (I like the little sandwiches & pastries they have there)

I opted for one of the more expensive rooms. I'm not sure what it was called, but it's on the roof (maybe the Bungalow Pool View). The room was just ok imo. It wasn't worth the 2000 Baht/night or whatever it was - I can't remember the exact price. The room was spacious though, but it had old wooden floors that squeaked. The bathroom was pretty good; however, it was the open shower, so the bathroom floor gets all wet. But the bathroom did have a nice size tub, in which my lady prepared a lovely bubble bath for us. However, I prefer showers, so the tub really made no difference to me.

Nice decor - Thai style. One nice thing about our room was it was located on the roof. It had cool little Thai statues everywhere and little patio places to sit outside your door. You could walk to the ledge of the roof and see down on the street and out to the ocean. Nice ocean breezes up there.

However, I would have rather been in a room next to the pool. Those rooms were actually cheaper and just as nice. I tried switching to one of those rooms, but they were completely booked. The pool was actually really nice. It had a giant size built in Jacuzzi. It reminded me of the pool at the Areca Lodge in Pattaya (the one in the back of the hotel). The only problem was, the pool was always crowded. At the C&N Resort, nine times out of ten I was the only one using the pool, which was really nice. I like having the feeling like I'm the only person staying at a hotel.

The breakfast buffet was quite good offering a variety of both Western and Thai selections. However, I only managed to get down there once before the 10am cut-off time.

Now, to the one part of this hotel experience that will be hard to forget - the Spa. On my very last day I took my lady for a couples massage at the hotel. We got something called the Relaxation Package, which included a steam, Jacuzzi use, salt rub, and an aromatherapy massage. The massage room had a private steam room, a Jacuzzi built for two, a shower, and 2 massage beds.

Here's how it went... We started with a nice soothing steam and then moved into the Jacuzzi and soaked for a little while. Then we showered off and layed down on our massage beds and waited for the massage girls to come in the room. The salt rub was reminiscent of Sazanka. They just didn't have a hose & water bucket there to wash off the salt so we had to get up and shower and then lay down again for the aromatherapy massage. It was quite erotic as I watched my girl's tits get thoroughly oiled and massaged in front of me. The massage was so good both of us actually fell asleep for part of it. When the massage concluded the erotic feel continued as we showered right in front of the massage girls. The shower wasn't private and I felt like I was in a movie as I had my naked gf and two beautiful massage ladies handing me shampoo and soap. It was a lot of fun.

Again, one of my main reasons for switching to this hotel was to be next to the beach. Unfortunately, everyday the weather was not good and the beach was inaccessible. Maybe that's why the pool was always slammed with guests.

It's also not gf, as the security gave my girl a hard time until we convinced him she checked in with me.

Overall, the hotel was ok and in a good location, but a bit too crowded and the rooms weren't as nice as I would have hoped. Minus the Thai decor, I actually felt the rooms at the C&N Resort were nicer. I might go back though for another massage.

I stayed here in April 2009 for 5 nights.

Baan Laimai is right on the beach road and is a 10 minute walk north to Bangla road.

When you walk up to the reception you will notice a big sign that says that you will be charged 500 baht if you bring a guest to your room.
A very cute girl checked me in and told me that I would not be charged for a guest as I booked a room for 2 people. The guest will be asked to leave her/his ID at the reception. She had a nice polite smile while she was telling me this and I think my face colored a little bit red.

Then she tells you the bad news. The pool is closed for renovations. If this is important for you just check with the hotel before making your final reservation.
Their website says: *** Renovation News *** In the area around the pool and the building behind the pool. This renovation will start on February 6th 2009 and run about 1 year. Daily construction hour will be about from 8.00 - 18.00 or 20.00
Never noticed any renovation noise but my room was not on that side of the hotel.

The night porter will try to charge you 500 baht when you arrive with your guest for the night. It is irritating that you have to tell him to check his administration but after that there is no discussion.
One night I was checking my email on a pc that is located near the reception and I could overhear a conversation between the porter and a guy with three guests. The guy had booked a double room and refused to pay 1500 baht. The guy stayed nice and only repeated that he shouldn’t be charged and a few minutes later he went up with his three girls without paying the extra money. Maybe he slipped him a few baht, I couldn’t tell.

Hotel has internet in the lobby for 100 baht per 60 min. On the login screen it says there is free internet for 18 minutes when you login with name/pwd = free/free. That works fine and after 18 minutes you have to login again.

Room is very spacious. I had a king-size bed and you could have easily fit two of them in the room. Bathroom is separated from the room with two sliding doors and is equally spacious. Room is clean and bug free.

I never had breakfast as I never woke up before noon. One time a LT went home early in the morning and I thought it was my change to get breakfast. Still very sleepy I sat down in a quiet restaurant at 11 AM, only to find out that breakfast ends at 10:30 AM. Went to bed again and swore never to try this again.

I made my reservation here http://www.r24.org/bkkx.com/phuket/baanlaimai/
I paid 1800 baht and I see they lowered their price to 1550 baht a night (Deluxe Room, double, twin, ABF incl).
When make a reservation they quote you a price in your own currency, but on my Visa they charged me in Baht.

Check it out. I would stay here again.
