Hi Looks like we will be in Patong about the 2nd or 3rd week of January. I will have the Thai family in tow and a very budget concious friend and newbie from the states...
Thus I am paying for my wife and I and my friend is on a budget. Girl Friendly is a plus given that he is a newbie and I'm looking forward to corrupting him...
My wife's family is nice and will of course be happy with anything...board for bed...brick for pillow...
I am hoping to find something decent with at least a little charm. I don't mind punters or Tgs. If I have to I'll bite the bullet and pay more to avoid staying in some squatter's camp. I'd like to be close to the water if possible or not too far a walk.
I stayed at the Tropica last time on my opwn and loved it but given that it is high season It will be too pricey for me when I am paying for everything from rooms to meals as well. 
Sorry to be such a beggar here I'm trying to keep this little jaunt under some semblance of cost control.
