Hey folks, It has been forever since I have posted on here. Good to be back.
Got a simple question for those of you familiar with the Phuket/ Phi Phi/Krabi area. I will be heading there for the second time ever next month. I would like some suggestions on how best see these areas. What I mean is we will have one full week there and would like spend several days in Phuket and Phi Phi Don and possibly make a short side trip to Krabi.
We fly in and out of Phuket and I am wondering what makes the most sense as far as how to get from place to place. Of course boat seems to make sense but in which order for example? What are the most convenient boats to take from which dock to which dock?
I guess I am asking how you would arrange your trip in my shoes.
Any advice would be appreciated as I am not very familiar with that part of LOS.

I was scheduled to go to Phuket on Air Asia the day after the accident. Turned out that they had to close down Phuket airport for cleaning and investigation. Our only option were to get a 3 month only credit or fly into Krabi and take alternative transportations. We flew out of BKK and into Krabi at 9:20 AM. Took bus to main bus station. then bus to phuket town. then taxi to patong beach only to find my reserved hotel have no room since previous occupants could not fly out. I was lucky to find alternate hotel available. Didn't get into my room until after 4:30 PM. But Phuket was still fun.

I would change the flight. ?Go to Phuket first, take boat to Phi Phi, continue by boat to Krabi, then fly back to BKK.
Depends on you. If you want to monger first and then relax this is good, if you want to emty the sack before the return, turn around the itinery.

Cyborg: Michi has got it right. I took the boat from Phuket Town to Ao Nang and I had to wait 3 hours on PP and transfer to another boat. It was 3 wks after tsunami and depressing as hell. Great ride otherwise. Longtails will drop you in Ao Nang, Railay Bch, or Krabi Town. If you want a nice beach, stay in Railay or head up the shore by the Sheraton. Ao Nang is very shallow (2 ft deep a half mile out). I can recommend the Sheraton and Ao Nang Villa. Chock Dee; wj
