I had two weeks of vacation and I thought about spending them all in BKK. But reading this forum I decided to give Patong a try for 5 days. Not for the beaches or sightseeing. I do those things on other occasions and with somebody else.
I made my booking for the flight and hotel only two days in advance. The ticket from Bangkok Air was relatively expensive with 5000 Baht. Mainly because the cheap seats were already gone and I didn’t want to fly at 7 am.
Finding a hotel on such a short notice was more of a challenge. Town lodge, where I was staying, couldn’t help me out and almost all hotels mentioned on this board were fully booked. I finally received a positive mail on my reservation request from Baan Laimai Beach resort. They quoted me 1800 baht a night including breakfast. I didn’t have any alternative so I took it for 5 nights.

My first impression of Patong?
It’s weird to see all those guys walking around the P4P scene with their family and even walking behind strollers. Western GF’s and wives clinging to their guys making sure that the TG’s won’t get to them. TG’s ignoring everything and trying to get the guy into a back room for a massage. And what are those guys doing at a bar sitting next to their farang GF or wife? Are they all masochists? I see farang girls/women staring at BG’s and punters with a judgmental look while others are dancing on bar tables or are hanging from the dancing poles. It is a strange mix that I had to get used to.
Luckily the scene changes a bit after midnight. Wives and GF’s have gone to bed and the guys got permission to go out alone, promising their spouse only to look and not touch (as one guy told me).
There is an abundant selection of girls and you will find your perfect girl when you are bar hopping.
I have had a few good nights but I single out one as an example.
A few times I ended up at the Blowjob Bar. Do I hear a question? No they don’t, it’s just the name of the bar.
They have a few cuties walking around and there is an older girl (thirty something) that is a real stunner. She pulled me by the arm when I passed the bar. Well, she didn’t want to go with me as she was already booked for the evening and also for the following nights.
I was about to leave again when I spotted a girl staring at me with the most beautiful f***-me-eyes. On first look not really my type but the way she looked at me gave me an instant hard on. Her body was small and tight but she had piercings, tattoos and she had dyed her hair, not something I usually go for. We play a few games at the bar and I am beginning to really like the girl.
The boyfriend of the stunner appears and she gives me the “you see?” look. They want to party with us somewhere but I have mixed feelings about it and pass.
They are playing a disco version of “when you’re going to San Francisco”. I like the song and start dancing with my girl. Judging on her moves she could be much fun in bed.
She teases me with some light French kissing and I feel she has a tongue piercing. I am sold, I want this girl. She tells me she can only stay ST because this is her last day of work and in the morning she wants to leave early because she is going to visit her family up country for Songkran.
Outside I am looking for a tuk tuk to get us to the hotel but she flags a motor taxi. To my surprise there is enough room on the seat to fit three people. I always forget how small TG’s are.
The night porter at Baan Laimai gives me my key and wants 500 baht for the girl. I tell him I have booked a room for two people and he checks this on the computer. Everything is fine and after she leaves her ID we can proceed.
Although she wants to shower alone she is not a shy girl. She is very playful and full of energy. My take: a good dancer is usually a good performer in bed too. Sex is good and we are both exhausted. I go to the bathroom for a quick shower and when I come back she is already asleep. She is in exactly the same spot as where we had sex. She lays diagonal on the bed and on top of the sheets. I push her gently and I wait for her to wake up but she totally out. I pick her up and she feels like dead weight in my arms. I put her in the middle of the bed and cover her up. It is touching to see this little girl sleep and I take a minute to look at her. A few seconds later I am asleep.
About five hours later she wakes me up and I expect her to get going but she wants to give me a goodbye f***. She is in very cheerful mood and we have great sex again. In the bar we agreed upon 1000 baht and she is very happy with the 1500 I give her. Too bad she is going on a holiday I would have liked to hang out with her some more.
It took me a few days to get used to Patong. It slowly grew on me as I found my places to eat, play pool and find my TG’s. I had 5 days of fun but in the end I prefer BKK. In BKK you have more variation in P4P and partying. Depending on your mood you make your choice out of a range of options and Patong is more or less only bar hopping.

EPC,  That was funny.
But there isn't much to psychoanalyze this time around. Well, at least as far as Egor goes. Sounds like he managed to have some good, straight forward fun in a place designed primarily for spectators. His description of all the tourists, however, captures nicely why I can't stand Bangala.
Not because I detest the tourists (although I do), but because of the effect they have on the P4P scene and the mentality of the girls. There is something very different about the psychology of a BG in Patong from anywhere else I have been in LOS. There is very little of the GFE that I like, and too much of the cut-throat-it-doesn't-matter-how-I-behave-because-this-tourist-is-replaceable-by-the-next-sucker-to-come-along. There are some exceptions, of course, but that's all they are.
Places like Patong make me realize just how cultural (on a very localized level) the P4P scene is, and how certain attitudes spread like a virus from girl to girl, sometimes to our benefit (Pattaya), and sometimes to our detriment (Patong). Finding a girl who hasn't been infected by the tourist virus in Patong is an (un) healthy challenge indeed.
I suppose that is why I am, perhaps, hypersensitive to the Vegasification of PTY. Tourism kills. All the P4P fun. At least the kind that I like.
Patong is like a fake version of the real thing, a made-for-television rip-off, from which a tourist and his falang girlfriend can derive a make-believe naughty pleasure ('OMG, look at that lady boy honey!') while remaining safely unsullied by its underlying salty, cum-stained reality. The only good thing about Patong in my book is that it may, like a giant blue light, draw unto it all the tourists who might otherwise be crowding my favorite P4P haunts elsewhere in LOS. Kind of like Times Square in NYC and Fisherman's Warf in San Francisco.
So, as far as I am concerned, they can keep Patong all to themselves. Enjoy!

Yes BG's are very different from the ones in BKK.
I really got the impression that their main (sole?) interest is to get you into bar, feed you peanuts to make you drink more and play silly games so you will stay longer.
But there are so many girls that, with some effort, you will find a TG for some serious fun. It just might take a lot of bar hopping.
The hunting is part of the fun and I did find a few nice girls in the end.

Quim (eloquently) summed up the bulk of my sentiments - what Egor described represents everything I don't want.
Perhaps it's because I spent time growing up and as an adult in expat communities, or because I am a regular international traveller, but I tend to discriminate against "ordinary" tourists (even when I am one) and don't normally want to associate with them, preferring the company of like-minded people & expats.
The idea of being judged in a situation where clearly the judges are the outsiders grinds my gears. Obviously there is some shock value to some people (or perhaps I'm desensitised to it all), but what's so odd about seeing guys flirt with hostesses, even if they are paying for it.
I pay good money to fly 9 hours North to get away from white trash package tour dickheads, I certainly don't want to be around them in-country. Obviously this in unavoidable, but I've been places (Noriegas for one - and for the record, it's the only NON gay pub in the Silom Soi 4 = why I go there!) that don't attract tourists, and where customers are treated accordingly.
End of rant.

Thai Tourist traps everywhere, thats why I hate high season....especially Pattaya with all the heavy influx of Ruskies ! bunches chit chattin and complainin away !
locals /friends like the good high season business but burn out around April when over with !
Better to rent ST apartment away from crowds and scooter in for P.
Good trip plans have been BKK Pattaya for week then out to peaceful areas in Phuket, Samui, Chang... they have P in bars everywhere, single sisters call sisters all over the place; theyll find you even in countryside joints.
