This seems to be the bar area of Karon Beach with a few beer bars and go-go's. Anyone have any experience with this area? I am going for a week in October. Thanks

Errr... gogo's at Karon beach ?!? Don't think so... at least not some 2-3 yrs. ago... Only some beer bars... some poor action availiable but on low profile...

remember though ! the Thai sisterhood and the mobile phone.... one sister calls another from Patong come on over we have customer in Karon or Kata..... its a beach network village.... more choices in the popular areas though.... yes there are some bb's in Karon with girls there.... some cute and fun !  ... Thai hotel staff sexy enough.... rent a scooter or jeep and get around for more areas... dont depend on the tuk tuk mafia $$$ ! enjoy your trip.... book a room in south beach area Patong if you want peace and quite !

Make sure you've got a helmet and check to see if you're from a country that needs an International DL in Thailand. The BIB often have a roadblock at the base of the road on the hill over to Karon. Might cost you some real $$ if you're hammered. wj

And also make sure the bike you rent has an insurance (some place rent bike whitout any insurance, the paper you sign state in Thai that you are fully responsible for any cost in case of crash...) and that you take detailled pictures of the bike+person who rent it BEFORE to go with the bike, just in case the person who rent you the bike decide to make you pay for some pre-existing scratches...
