Occationally, when I smoothen things a bit with telling Pallaya how much I love her, she twinches her mouth with a laugh and calls me Baquawn (sweetmouth)
We have a CD in the car by a Thai artist named Titima Sutsunton, in a song she sings about Yuk Yak. Upon my qustion Wifey explains its a man who cannot / dont want to express his feelings in words.
After a smoothing-session I ask wife
Me: what kind of man do you want me to be if I am to be trusted. Yuk Yak or Baquawn ?
Noi: thinking a bit - "Yuk Yak".........
- thinking a bit more; "YukYak, but buy diamond"....

Funny.
Reminds me of an old girlfriend, now since long gone.
When I first met her, she spoke minimal English. She was such a quiet, docile little girl! After one month living with me, she suddenly spoke English very, very well, and she did not stop talking until we broke up two years later.
Anyway, I will never forget one English phrase that she knew to perfection the first day that I met her: "I want DIE MOND."

She got a diamond ring when we agreed to marry (see "Travels With Frank the Sequel - Tales from Kantchanaburi",) it's the diamond neclace these hints are now about. Requests are very subtle and with patience.
It's got something to do with showing off with the other Thai Ladies in the area on Sonkran day.

True indeed, about the face issue. I bought a rather expensive silver necklace in Mexico, Taxco silver, very nicely made, from a shop whose owner I knew for many years. Best quality silver in Mexico, the shop owner's dad was originally from Taxco, and I got a very good price on it. A heavy chunk of metal, with exquisite craftsmanship.
When I gave it to my TGF, the comment was the same, "but it not gold!" even though it cost more than most of the gold she has. No resale value in LOS, so the value is sentimental for her, more than actuarial. Still, that means she'll have it for a good long time, lol, as no pawn shop will touch it.
She has tried over the last couple of years to "make it look nice" by hanging various cheap pendants off it, when in reality it is a beautifully sculpted work, meant to be worn as is.
And, yep, she knows the word "DIE-A-MOND!" which she she always accompanies by a pantomime of her sliding a giant rock onto her ring finger, lol. And no, she hasn't gotten one of those yet.

funny topic...my little lady has much to bitch at me about but at the end of the day....she knows I am a good man and her life is exponitianlly (sp?) better off since we met...
I dont take her for granted.... as my life is way better with her in it.......
speaking of diamonds...we got a hotel after my company christmas party a couple weeks ago...and I had a call on my cell at 8:15 from a customer needing me to get a proposal out asap...anyway I jumped up and pulled my lady out of the bed and she left her ring...on the drive home... (keep in mind we were on the 405...americas equivelent to sukhumvit/asoke intersection at 5pm).... she realizes she left her ring...
this place was a flea bag hotel....but to my amazement they had it waiting in the lobby...
RTB....there seems to some re-occuring wedding ring thing with me.....

Funny, the Thai ladies I work with are almost all married to Foreigners (swiss being the dominant nationality) but that does not stop them from flirting... and they openly admit to having Thai boyfriends.
Their husbands are older men and they say it's only for money. Some of them bitch and cry over what the Thai men do to them, but some ladies are no better.
that's why I am very happy with P4P... play with them, pay and make them leave
