On our latest New Year's trip to LOS the wife and I met up again with the girls who were the centre piece of my original Post from Jan 2005 - Good Girls I thought I knew

This last trip provided another insight into the gold fish logic of a Thai girl.
To save you reading that entire post (although I think it is still a good read) the summary is this. I was at that time involved with Girl A, who had two main friends, Girl B and C. All three worked in offices of a large international manufacturing company. One day whilst leaving the abode of the long term farang boyfriend of Girl B I overheard her sweet talking on her mobile to a second farang boyfriend she was meeting later that night. Both girls A and C were aware of the two timing and whilst Girl A had warned it would end badly, Girl C was all for it - get what you can while you can....and except for the fact that I knew a little more Thai than they thought I did, I would have remained none the wiser also.
The interesting part as far as Thai girl logic goes is that once Girl B got caught out, she could not understand why the original BF would no longer trust her. She gave up the other BF (jing jing = truly), so what was the problem she would ask me. Why does he get so angry?
Girl C was even more indignant about it. Her friend had given up something valuable - a farang boyfriend - just to make THIS farang happy and now he was even less generous toward Girl B than he had been in the past. Surely she had shown that she loved only him by giving up the other boyfriend. Again what was the problem.
These observations were fielded back to me via my Girl A and try as I might I could never get them to understand why the deception had been so harmful to the relationship. Why we farangs put so much value on the truth. Eventually Girl B and the farang split and she has had no luck with any long term relationships since.
Girl C however, an avid MSN user, has claimed several successes with meeting farangs. On this last trip we met her in BKK, she was heading to Krabi to meet in person for the first time and stay with a farang she had met on the internet (not much of a good girl these days) over Xmas and the New Year. She was however as happy as I had seen her in a long time and she said she felt that she may have found someone who would "take care" of her - TG speak for a husband.
Then she mentioned her travel plans. Girl B and another friend, Girl D (?) would be arriving unannounced two days later in Krabi and Girl C was expecting the new boyfriend to pay all their expenses.
Pay for a room for them, pay for their meals etc. I pointed out that some farangs might feel they were being taken advantage of if the friends just turned up and expected an all expenses paid holiday - however, managed correctly, most farangs in holiday mode would not object to playing host to two more Thai lovelies "my friends have no money for holiday tee ruk, they very sad, can they come stay with us one day two day darling, that would make me very happy".
I let the wife, Girl A, try and explain this to Girl C and so avoid what I felt was a looming disaster or at least a bucket full of ill feeling - Girl C dismissed the advice - "If he love me, he will do for me." was her response.
The girls all reported later that they had had a great time and that the farang was really nice....that holiday ended nearly a month ago and Girl C can't understand why she had not heard from her farang since. Enjoy.

The best thing with Thai logic is its dynamics. If youre not happy with the logical result of something (like 1+1) don't accept it, just hang around for while, the result might change...

I know and have dated some very loyal Thai girls, but I think the perception of cheating girlfriends will always be higher in a city like Bangkok.
In America, we had the "monkey bar" theory for girls. Rather than break up with a guy, a girl will first make sure they have established another relationship before moving on. They want to have a good grip on one rung before they swing to the next.

Well, this is called mate bonding, it crosses over genders and nationalities. We behave similarly with mates who have a bit on the side, behind their girlfriends. In fact scoring with women, whilst in a relationship, is seen as macho thing that earns kudos with our peers. I know that as I’m guilty as the next man.
In Thailand, having a mia noi, or two or more, is entrenched in the national psyche, Thai women know this and fear it …. more because of potential lose of money and face. Before marrying, most Thai women play the field (even more so if they are attractive) until such time they find a jai dee man who can take care of them and their parents. Finding men willing to shag them is the easiest part, but finding a man who sticks with them thru thick ‘n’ thin, who’s generous, understanding, is different ball game and much, much harder to find. They know it and Thai men know that too.
I don’t see anything out of the ordinary in Minder’s post, nothing that people of both sexes wouldn’t do around the world. There may be slightly different cultural nuances peculiar to Thailand but on the whole this is common behaviour among young and footloose people, living in a metropolis. Plus it’s part of Asian mentality that the wealthiest and most senior person in the group pays for everybody, going Dutch is an alien concept for them.
Last year, I took the mia and 2 of her best friends to Pattaya for 3 days and I willingly paid for everything. One of her friends insisted to pay her way but I refused. In the last night we went to the Moon River Pub for a slap up meal and live music extravaganza, her friend paid the bill, 2,380 baht …… considering that she is on a monthly salary of 14,500 baht that was expensive for her. The other girl was out of work at the time, so she was on a tight budget but I’m sure that she would have contributed in some way if she was working.

In my original post I forgot to mention that Girl C's guy in Krabi was on his very first visit to Thailand... you, me and most regulars understand the "pee" pays for all concept...but not most newbies.
I felt he would feel they were using him etc...and it looks like he did. The tragedy is that all three girls -especially Girl B - would be good prospects as long term partners. However, now that they have blown their one chance and are known to be used goods amongst their Thai peers they seem to have given up even a pretense of moderation. Enjoy.
