I said to a couple of the girls, "same people Israel", which was met with blank looks.
Not a big deal, just interesting. It usually comes up because once the girls find out I'm from England they ask, "Are you Crist?".
It would be funny if they asked, "Are you Christ?".

That could be why. In my phrasebook the phonetic for Jew was Yui, so that's probably why they didn't understand.

Israelis aren't the most popular people in Bangkok. There are still some 'No Israelis' signs around Khao San and I saw one near Pat Pong the other day. Haven't seen one in NEP for ages, though.

Not surprised some places have sign like that.
Other day saw a 'this hotel is not for TH people' sign : Sawasdee House next to Bangkok Bar on soi Rambutri.
Proposed my GF come on lets check what they do about TH falang mixed couples (as I expected she prefered not to pursue the matter that way).
Are those signs racist ? I think so. Why is it mainstream TH don't seem to mind ? Could it be because mainstream TH might be rather racist themselves ? I think so. Are u surprised about that sociological phenomena knowing that a political party literally called 'TH love TH' democratically elected runs the country ? Hell i'm not. Which no way means I agree. They must not come from Chiang Mai. While there, I came across a shop (closed, door pulled down) with a sign that said only "Jew Shop".
Never did find out what it sold. Got a picture of the sign, though.

WTF is that ?. googlegoogle : town North TH.....well the only thing I can come up with -- disclaimer : except a case of YMBIT -- even in Chiang Mai of all places they use an oven to melt the goooold they sell in the jew....elry shop.
