ah, yes, i remembered when she won. there was quite a "pui fever" going on, especially among young boys (like yours truly - i had posters and photos of her everywhere!)
what goes up must come down, of course, and public adoration became public annoyance when she had a thing with an amerian guy, whose name i forgot, but he was slacker-like, certainly no ugly billionaire. she grew up in the states (california, no less,) so it was not all that strange in her view to date an american bloke, but the thai public saw it other way.
the other thai miss univerese married a rich guy too (central dept store/hotel franchise owner) so i guess it's something to look forward to when you win that crown. what positive message to give to impressionable young girls!

Did anyone see the Thai TV showing of what I imagine was the wedding reception with Porntip crooning "Nothing's Gonna Change My Love For You (-r money)" to the groom who was decked out in Thai costume.
He was sitting there with a stupid grin on his face looking like a slimmed down Jabba the Hutt.
An ugly bunch of Khunying types were looking on from the nearby tables with fixed smiles.
Jesus it was 'pass the sick bag' time.
Okay, I'll give him his dues, he's a Billionairre, but how does he feel to know his wife is marrying him for the money?
He MUST know, right? He must be fairly smart to have made so much money. Or was it inherited?
