Lastly, why does it even matter -- unless the original question was of an academic nature.
Of course it was partially academic. Actually, the real answer has no real worth for me.
I am just trying to get a better picture.
And I also try to keep in mind not evaluate Thai behavior with my cultural background.
But I am involved, I see things, so I sort them, recognize patterns. And this is without doubts possible even for a different culture.

I have met the mother and father when they were in Bangkok and I went to her room. She had previously told her parents that she met me while shopping in MBK. She told them she likes to be with me because it helps her to learn English and I take her to fun places. It surprised me that she introduced me to them and when I talked to them, they knew all about me, where I worked, what I did for a living, etc.
Do they know she is a BG? Maybe, there are too many things that are "holes" in her story - having a job that allows her to spend days at a time with me in Samed, Phi Phi, Phuket, Koh Chang, etc. And she goes to Isaan for 4-5 days at a time every few weeks (probably to see her boyfriend or husband). The parents have got to know she does not have a "regular" job.

Invitation extended to me and politely declined (or deferred is a better word). If I could go there and be sure that there were no strings attached (which, of course, she ASSURES me is the case), I would go. But I think visiting her home town is not a good idea, as I do not need nor want a TGF.
It did surprise me that she invited me.

Well. I know (hardly) what you mean. I've met this girl (I guess it is SHE you talk about), and after reading your FR's she seems to be an honest seasoned pro.
But I've read numerous posts about visiting the parents in Isaan. Is it not possible for a butterfly to visit her girls hometown - experience the culture, say hello to her relatives - without the big wedding flag go up to the top?
Tell her you are going for the trip. She wants to see the beaches. You want to see Isaan.

Good reading, and clear plain advice. The most valid point being "'try marrying a home town girl"' do the math once split on cost. It aint free, and sure isnt love when the bank transfers $230,000 from your account, lets see 1243 days for the above figure, change to baht (aus dollars) 7 miilion baht divided by 1243 is about 5,500 baht a day. Not to mention cars credit card abuses, nagging, and hostage mentality sex (with demands).......any seasoned punter knows that in thailand that could be more peacefully spent on a beach, with the one word for any problems ""next"'

asked my #1 Girl the same question once and she told me that she told her Father she worked in a hotel as a maid.
but when I took her home we were immediately shown into our own room where we slept together.
the room also doubled as the shower room and toilet and we had no second glances as people came and went.
i cannot believe that her family and friends did not know what she was doing in Phuket.
but on the other hand she could have told me a little untruth.....

Do not apply your Western vantage points to Thai culture. Not a good idea.
IMO:
I think that goes for all asian cultures and not just Thai.
Back to the question.
Most families know what their daughter does for a living, but turn a blind eye because they see the $$$ comin' in. There is NO way a familiy thinks their daughter is a school teacher and then sends home a salary 10 times that of what a real school teacher would make.
It''s really that "asian face" issue. In the public it's one thing, but behind close doors it's another.
